Cinched waists, wrap ties, and drawstrings that ruche up to elevate the plainest shape into something intentional. This clever tool makes turning fabric tubes such as belt loops or straps so simple. I retired my infuriating metal loop turner after getting mine!

Emily, look at the Tauko Ruckus dress. It was in the magazine but you can buy the stand alone pattern on their website. (Can’t see it on the Foldline .. )

Thank you this is a fabulous compilation. I love how ruching can be used to accentuate the waist. Check the Vanni top by Domum (French indie) It employs horizontal ruching for partial under bust shaping one side, then vertical ruching for waist definition on the other side, coupled with a bias drape asymmetric hem.

I’m on the hunt for dresses and skirts with vertical or diagonal drawstrings to add interesting shapes. I’ve had my eye on a few Collusion/Asos dresses that do this and want to try it for myself. Any ideas?
