Buy the Harper Pants sewing pattern from Ready to Sew. Inspired by 19th-century white cotton bloomers and petticoats, this design adds a fresh twist with a comfortable paper bag waist, cinched with a drawstring.

Harper is crafted from a single pattern piece with no side seams for a clean, fluid line. Delicate pintucks near the ankles add texture and a poetic touch, while adjustable ties at the hem create a soft, billowy, romantic silhouette.

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: One of the pattern pieces has been split (to fit on the A0 sheet) and will need to be joined together.

Suggested fabrics: 

Beginner: Choose a stable, lightweight (115-150 gsm) fabric like cotton poplin or linen. This will make it easier to sew the pintucks.

Intermediate: You can opt for a more fluid, drapey fabric like tencel, a linen/tencel blend, or viscose.

Fabric requirements:

Range 1: 145 cm wide fabric: Sizes 32-34, 145 cm // Sizes 36-48, 240 cm.

Range 2: 145 cm wide fabric: All sizes, 260 cm.

Sizing: EU 32 – 48 and EU 48 – 64 (approx. UK 8 – 18 and UK 18 – 34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size charts.

Notions: A few small pieces of lightweight fusible interfacing to reinforce the buttonholes (openings for the drawstring); 9 mm wide flat elastic, half your waist measurement.
