IN CONVERSATION WITH PATRICK GRANT
We’ve got something a little different for you this Sunday! Last month we welcomed Patrick Grant’s new patterns onto the site to coincide with the release of his incredible new book The Savile Row Suit and we were lucky enough to sit down with him last week to chat about it. He wanted to create a modern version of a sourcebook that was originally written in the 1920’s. The four iconic pieces (shirt, trousers, waistcoat & coat) have illustrated instructions so you can make your own. We sat down to talk about the book, the Sewing Bee, and the business of running a tailors on one of London’s most iconic streets…
Really interesting, both the Saville Row and the Sewing Bee bits.
Hello,
I really admire Patrick Grant – we already have his new book which my brilliant daughter will no doubt find extremely useful…
However, I do have a question about series 10 of Sewing Bee – How much input do Patrick and Esme have in the selection of contestants?
It is clear watching this season’s show that the contestants have prepped themselves for the “challenges” but they are not at all talented sewers!! I’ve just started watching series 1 and Mark who was eliminated in the second week made a superb dress that was a judges’ favourite…his work was so much better than the actual contestants…
Last year’s winner Asmaa was fantastic, there won’t be a winner to match her this year.
