GREAT BRITISH SEWING BEE 2024 – SEWING PATTERNS S10 EP 8
It's the eighth episode of series 10!
In the eighth episode of The Great British Sewing Bee series 10 and it's divas week. Five remaining contestants are challenged with making Tina Turner's iconic fringed dress, upcycling animal print and the made-to-measure project was to make a stage outfit for their favourite diva for a model. For episode eight we have put our detective hats on to discover the sewing patterns from independent designers and commercial pattern houses used in Sewing Bee TV show. The patterns below are all matches or inspired by the designs used in the seventh episode of the Great British Sewing bee series 10. The theme this week was divas. All five contestants had to make three garments. The challenges included making Tina Turner's iconic fringed dress, upcycling animal print and the made-to-measure project was to make a stage outfit for their favourite diva for a model. Take a look at our sewing pattern suggestions below, we've tried to find the exact patterns used but where we haven't been able to we have plenty of suggestions so that you can recreate these looks at home for your handmade wardrobe.

Pattern Challenge 1: Tina Turner's fringed dress
The first challenge of the seventh episode was to make a pyjama blouse. Why not try this sewing pattern to recreate this look at home? First the darts are sewn and the side seams are stitched to create the shell of the dress. Then seven rows of fringing are attached with a double layer at the top. Next straps and a facing are added. Finally an invisible zipper finishes the dress.
Close-fitting dress has lined bodice with boning, lapped center back zipper & back vent. A: sweetheart neckline & self fabric straps. B: purchased rhinestone trim straps & fringe trim.

Transformation Challenge 2: Upcycling animal print
In the upcycling challenge contestants had to upcycle animal print into a completely new garment. Specific patterns weren't used for these tasks as contestants had to create a garment from existing materials in a fixed time so it's a bit tricky for us to make sewing pattern suggestions based on these design ideas.
Made-To-Measure Challenge 3: Stage outfit for a diva
In the last challenge of the eighth episode, all the contestants had to sew a made-to-measure stage outfit for a diva to fit a model. Here are our pattern picks for the contestants and where sewing patterns have been self drafted or hacked we have suggested an alternative.

Features: Red fringe, zip fly, collar, cuffs and sparkly godet.
Top pattern: Liberty Camargue Cowboy Shirt
Capturing the current trend for Western wear with a quintessential Liberty twist, this shirt takes its name from the cattle herdsmen in the south of France.

Knit short sleeve polo shirt with collar and three buttons is paired with slim fit bell bottom trousers with front slash pockets and button-through welt back pockets.

Suzy's Lady Gaga Opera Coat
Features: Buttons, webbing, sleeves and pockets.
Pattern: Simplicity vintage coat S8509.
This roomy Misses' Vintage coat or jacket with shawl collar is straight from the 1950s. Coat, View A has three-quarter length raglan sleeves with turn-back cuffs. Jacket, View B has long raglan sleeves with turn back cuffs. Welt pockets trim Views B and C. View C closes with one button at neck and has a band at lower edge of the one-piece raglan sleeves.

Sleeve pattern: Friday Pattern Company Adrienne Blouse. The Adrienne Blouse is a fashion forward wardrobe essential. It is a knit top with billowy statement sleeves that are gathered up at the shoulders and hems with elastic. The length is slightly cropped with the hem hitting just below your bellybutton.
