Buy the Holmes Dress sewing pattern from Helen's Closet. The Holmes Dress is a relaxed and stylish throw-on-and-go dress for everyday wear. Comfortable, classic, and endlessly wearable. With a deep V-neck, button-front bodice, and short sleeves, Holmes is perfect for warm weather but also layers beautifully with leggings and sweaters. Holmes features a gently cinched drawstring waist—pull the ties snug to add shaping, or loosen them for an effortless, laid-back fit. The skirt is finished with a playful ruffle hem for movement and a touch of charm, and deep pockets make it as practical as it is cute. Make View A for a longer, swishier silhouette or choose View B for a breezy, shorter dress. 

Note: The Holmes Dress is cross-compatible with the Lazo Jumpsuit. You can mix and match the bodices and skirts/pants to get more looks!

Suggested fabrics: Light to medium weight woven fabrics with no stretch. The designer recommends fabrics under 7.5 oz (250 gsm). Rayon/viscose challis or poplin, linen, cotton, and tencel will work well. Structured fabrics will have more dramatic volume and drapier fabrics will have more fluid movement.

Fabric requirements: 

View A: 57" (145 cm) wide fabric: 3.7 - 4.4 yd (3.4 - 4 m) // 45" (115 cm) wide fabric (sizes 0-26 only): 4.3 - 4.8 yd (3.9 - 4.4 m).

View B: 57" (145 cm) wide fabric: 3.3 - 3.9 yd (3 - 3.6 m) // 45" (115 cm) wide fabric (sizes 0-26 only): 3.8 - 4.4 yd (3.5 - 4 m).

Sizing: US 0 – 34 (approx. UK 6 – 34, based on our standardised size chart). This pattern includes two size options. There is a B-cup pattern for sizes 0 – 22 and a D-cup pattern for sizes 12 – 34. Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern has been drafted for a 5'6" (168 cm) tall person.
