Friday Pattern Company Uma Dress and Top

Buy the Uma Dress and Top sewing pattern from Friday Pattern Company. This summer dress or top is designed for knit fabrics. It features straps that run through channels along the side seams and scrunch up, making the strap and side seam length adjustable and adding ruching to the sides. The bodice is lined, giving you a clean finish on the inside as well as a bit of extra support. The dress view features a gathered skirt and drop waist. On both views, the bodice hemline is rounded and comes up slightly on the sides. Uma is perfect for warm days in the park, brunch with friends, or wandering around a museum.

Suggested fabrics: You will need a knit fabric with at least 50% crosswise stretch. Because the bodice is so fitted, you will want to choose a knit with good stretch recovery. Knits with a bit of spandex or lycra are a good choice!

Fabric requirements: You may need to purchase extra yardage if your fabric has a heavy nap, is directional, striped, or has an obvious repeat.

Dress: 45" (114 cm) wide fabric: 3 - 4.8 yd (2.8 - 4.4 m) // 54-60" (137-153 cm) wide fabric: 2.5 - 4.5 yd (2.3 - 4.1 m).

Top: 45" (114 cm) wide fabric: 1.2 - 2.7 yd (1.1 - 2.5 m) // 54-60" (137-153 cm) wide fabric: 1.2 - 2.5 yd (1.1 - 2.3 m).

Sizing: XS – 7X (approx. UK 6 – 34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

The pattern was drafted using sample measurements for a height of 5'6" (168 cm) and includes options for B/C and C/D cups. When selecting a cup size choose the option closer to the bra cup size that you wear.

Notions: Stretch sewing machine needle; scrap of knit fusible interfacing (regular fusible interfacing will work but knit interfacing will give you a cleaner finish) // Optional: 1/4" (0.6 cm) wide double sided basting tape (Wonder Tape); 4.5 yd (4.1 m) of 3/8" (1 cm) wide elastic to reinforce the straps.
