THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES - 27 OCTOBER

It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

There's been a flood of top-tier new arrivals I need to tell you about, all perfect for stretching your sewing skills while adding a staple piece to your handmade wardrobe. With new collections from Named and Liesl + Co., a new issue of Tauko magazine, as well as a much-awaited design from Paper Theory, you won't want to miss this update!

Tauko magazine issue no. 13 explores how sewing connects us to a wider world of textile activism, where gentle craft becomes a powerful tool for social change, with winter-ready patterns including quilted coats, chic dresses and more designs with a unique twist. The magazine contains 9 sewing patterns, as well as inspiring articles to read.

Named has nailed the latest collection - "Down to Earth". Striking the balance between what's on trend and useful pieces you will wear every day, this collection is the autumn injection my wardrobe needs!

Loviisa Denim Dress: This just missed Kate's Sew the Trends round-up, but it's a key piece she spotted for the season. The large collar, chunky placket and angular chest pockets make this classic style edgy.

Saana Puffer Vest: You can't help but notice that layering gilets are here to stay. Saana offers a smart solution to dressing warmly, with its cool clip buckle belt, you don't have to compromise on style.

Salla Sweater Dress: The easiest sew in the collection, Salla's fit is spot on. Not too slouchy, but not too tight. It avoids being shapeless thanks to the wide belt and the collar is high enough for extra warmth without feeling restrictive.

Liesl + Co always come up with the goods when it comes to timeless elegance for modern life, and this trio is no exception.

Brunswick Jacket: This functional, comfortable, and stylish unlined cross between a jacket and a cardigan is pretty clever. If you prefer polish to slouch, this will be your winter warmer of choice.

Tomigaya Shirt Dress: Refined, yet elegant and casual, this classic shirt dress can go anywhere. The elastic waist looks smocked and can be cinched with the drawstring that ties in front. With short and long sleeve options, you can sew one for any climate.
Isola Blouse and Dress: An elegant but relaxed blouse or dress featuring gathers at the neck, raglan sleeves, princess seams for fit, and a simple keyhole closure at the back. This is an easy style to sew and includes cup sizes to help you get a great fit.

Paper Theory Patterns Ray PinaforeCalling all arty dressers. This slip-over-the-head pinafore is just the job for your creative pursuits. With topstitching showing off an interesting cut, handy in-seam pockets, and low armholes so it can be worn over layers, the Ray Pinafore is perfectly practical in every way.

The Maker's Atelier Pleated Skirt: Searching for an all-season skirt? This pleated beauty looks just as good styled with boots as it does with sandals. The beautiful box pleats can be fluid and soft or crisply pressed for a sharper look. Tuck your top in and sling a cardigan over and you've got an autumn-friendly outfit.

In the Folds Ormond Coat: Can't choose between sewing a coat or jacket this autumn? Well, this pattern gives you both options in one so you don't have to pick! Its boxy silhouette, raglan sleeves, and convertible collar offer a classic yet versatile style. Whether you choose to make the chore coat or a full-length cosy number, the finishes on this pattern will make it last for years to come.

That's leaves you with plenty to ponder so we will wrap things up for another week. See you next Sunday!
