THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES - 3 NOVEMBER
It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!
We've got an eclectic week on the sewing pattern front, with a sea-faring popover, a coat that can be made as a jacket (and looks completely different!), a magazine exploring adorable textiles and the most perfect pair of dungarees. Strap in and it's probably best you prepare a hot drink to enjoy while you watch.
Matchy Matchy On Deck Pullover: I don't know how Matchy Matchy continues to come up with such clever and unique designs, but they do, and I am here for it! The On Deck Popover is an oversized outer layer with vintage seaworthy details. With a choice of cute sailor collar or hood, the a-line shape means you can layer it over long sleeves or lightweight sweaters. Why not get creative with your stitching like the sample?
Closet Core Patterns Phoebe Coat: If you want to tackle an advanced project, I can't think of a better choice than a coat. Modern yet timeless, this pattern is a great introduction to sewing tailored garments. Phoebe is perfect for throwing over chunky jumpers - the mark of a good coat in my humble opinion!
In the Folds Ormond Coat: Can't choose between sewing a coat or jacket this autumn? Well, this pattern gives you both options in one so you don't have to pick! Its boxy silhouette, raglan sleeves, and convertible collar offer a classic yet versatile style. Whether you choose to make the chore coat or a full-length cosy number, the finishes on this pattern will make it last for years to come.
French Navy Huxley Dungarees: This pattern is quite possibly the most perfect design for dungarees I have ever seen. Alongside the traditional pockets, button side and buckle straps, the Huxley features a modern slim fit through the hip with a straight leg that tapers slightly towards the hem. You can dress them up with a smart blouse or casually with a jumper.
Noodlehead Plover Pouch: Plover is a fun zippered pouch in three sizes that you'll love to make and use! All three sizes have a dividable interior mesh pocket that is perfect for keeping everything organised, and the medium and large sizes have an interior zippered pocket too. It could be a great option if you want to sew gifts for a loved-one (but don't forget to sew one for yourself!).
Selvedge Magazine Issue 121 - Adorable: This issue explores the phenomenon of cute from a textile perspective. From dollhouse miniatures to mini-me mother-and-daughter dressing, and the slippery softness of petroleum plushie, textiles can be pretty adorable and this magazine celebrates that!
Primrose Dawn Kori Bralette: Designed for stretch knit fabrics, the Kori Bralette features princess seams and three neckline options: high scoop, low scoop, and v-neck. Choose between two back styles – racer back or scoop back – both with an optional hook and eye closure for added convenience. The wide self straps are lined with a stable fabric for added support.
I'm going to wrap things up for another week so I'll see you next time!
