THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES - 10 NOVEMBER
It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!
Are you ready for this week's Edit? We are welcoming our latest pattern designer crush - aka our new bestie, the most delightful woven labels and I'll share a great pattern dupe for the coveted Sézane collared cardi.
Meet your new sewing pattern bestie - BF Patterns! As long time admirers (and shoppers) of Blackbird Fabrics, we are beyond excited about welcoming the sister brand to one of our most-loved fabric shops to the Fold Line family.
So, why do we think these patterns should become your new sewing bff? They combine trend-led sewing patterns that cater to ambitious sewers and easy-going project lovers alike. They are fashionable, but are also things you can wear every day. Basically, they are your unfussy pal who shows up for every occasion.
Let's dive a little deeper into BF Patterns...
Nicole Knit Top + Dress: This clever pattern doubles as a sophisticated dress that is secretly comfortable and a very useful basic top you can make again and again. Want to know another secret? Nicole features a built-in bra for light support.
Taylor Trousers: Ready to tackle tailored trousers? This intermediate pattern is the perfect place to start. You choose the details: from wide or straight leg, flat or double-pleated front and welt or patch pockets, they are highly customisable. No matter the view, the Taylors are fit to avoid waist-gaping thanks to invisible elastic secured in the back waistband.
Carrie Crop Top: High waist bottoms are everywhere, so if you're looking for the perfect top to match, Carrie is a strong contender. This close-fitting cropped knit tee is easy to sew and can be made with long or short sleeves.
Selena Set: Party season is coming and if you are pondering what to make, take a look at the Selena Set. This two-in-one pattern allows you to sew top and skirt you can wear it in many ways. It's an easy pattern, so is ideal if you are short on time.
Bestie Bag: If you don't want to commit to best friend status just yet, this is the pattern to test your BF Patterns friendship with. The Bestie Bag is a banana-shaped carry-all companion with four views, so you can tailor its size, straps, and pockets to suit your needs and style. Make one for you and your bestie as a (very) thoughtful and useful gift.
Baby Bestie Expansion Pack: Because having the right sized bag for every occasion is what a girl wants, grab the expansion to make an adorable mini version of the bestie bag. This little cutie is perfect for those outings when you only need your keys, phone, wallet, and a reusable bag.
Clothing sizing: US 0 – 20 and US 14 – 32 (approx. UK 8 – 22 and UK 18/20 – 36)
Following seeing these beauties in the flesh at the Knitting and Stitching show, we went on a shopping spree to bring you the latest Little Rosy Cheeks woven labels! The takeaway from the new labels is texture. They don't just look good, they feel good too.
The velvet 'Made by Me' and 'Handmade' labels have a festive feel and the sparkly 'Made to Party' labels are perfect for your festive frock.
My personal favourite is the 'Made in 2025' labels which are beautifully understated and the texture makes them look really expensive. One of my resolutions is to put date labels in my makes to help me track what was made when, so I will be snapping some up.
The ribbed texture of the 'Bespoke/Original' labels is just beautiful and the tartan 'Handmade' labels are just so fun. If you are sewing a bag or accessory, I'd recommend the 'One of a Kind' labels.
Vivian Shao Chen Georgia Trousers: If you enjoyed sewing the Nepheline Blouse, these trousers are sure to be a pleasing sew. With plenty of desirable details, like the deep front pleats, slant pockets, and a zipper fly front, the silhouette is relaxed yet tailored. The best bit is the pattern comes with a shorts version, so you can get a lot out of one pattern.
Itch to Stitch Teifi Cardigan: I have been wondering if anyone is going to deliver a Sézane-esq shirt collared cardigan, and here it is. Designed for structures knit fabrics, Teifi features a classic collar and large chest pockets. What's more, the pattern has regular and full bust options for a customised fit.
JULIANA MARTEJEVS Nicki Pants: Vintage meets modern in this cigarette pants pattern. The pattern has a streamlined, tailored fit and features front pockets, back welt pockets, belt loops and double folded cuffs that give it a modern feel. It's a silhouette you can dress up or down.
Phew, what a week! That gives you plenty to ponder, so I'll see you next week friends for another rundown of the latest sewing pattern releases.
