SEW THE TRENDS: AUTUMN 24 - PART 2
Kate Underdown

Welcome back to part two of Sew the Trends. If you haven't seen part one yet, make sure you go and check it out as we cover fabrics, print, colours and outerwear. I cover most of it in the video but all the patterns are below if oyu fancied a closer look at anything.

Right let's get going shall we, the first topic is dresses...

Dresses:

First up is the Midi dress, most of them had a button down fronts, some had waist ties. All cut at a midi length and a really useful item for your wardrobe.

I think my favourite option is the Closet Core Nicks dress. It's a lovely pattern and very similar for lots of things I saw. If you don't like something that comes in at the waist the I Am Patterns Marty dress is such a great shape. Finally if you like a wrap dress then you must look check out The Sew Over It Heidi dress. The sample is made in leopard print for every on trend and I liked the proportions of it.

Next up is the short flair, som patterns were cinched in at the waist like the M&S and Zara options and some were loose fitting like the Whistles number.

Three fantastic options here the Veronica Tucker Audrey dress that is a loose fitting dress that comes with a belt so it ticks both variations! The Tilly and the Buttons Marnie is another fantastic option, this one doesn't have a belt. Finally the Silversaga Ella dress if you cut it off and made it shorter would be perfect and features a lovely deep v-neckline.

I loved the look of a short boxy shirt, they were made in demins and thick canvases alongside some lovey floaty viscose variations.

First up is the Schnittchen Jale dress, this would need to cut a little shorter. Then we have the Matchy Matchy Makers Overshirt which would also be a great option, this one would need to be lengthened. Finally the Lenaline Diana dress this would also need to shortened and the hem straightening.

These simple dresses were probably the style that featured the most across all the shops. A simple shape with a design detail like the Mango and & Other Stories ruching.

The three dress options are the Boatneck dress from Puff and Pencil, a woven pattern that ticks all the boxes. If you like jersey then check out the Vero dress from Juliana Martejevs with ruching all the way down the centre of the dress. Finally the Style Arc Corina dress, this would need to be lengthend but a perfect pattern for this season.

Tops:

The waistcoat is following on from spring summer into Autumn. There were two key shapes that I saw a lot of in the shops.

The Merchant and Mills Miller waistcoat is based on a mens waistcoat and perfect for this style. The Tessuti Claudia dress would be a great base to hack the other style. Any indies out there can we have one of these please!!

I know that these are very basic but they really were a core look. Used a lot in the styling in stores - probably becuase they are so versatile. Make these in lovely neutral tones.

Two very simple but fantastic tops, The Sew House Seven Skyline Tee if you wanted something really fitted and I love the neckline on this pattern. The I am Patterns Chantal is also a fantastic option for something a little looser.

The boxy shirt lives on from the summer and it some in two styles for autumn. Either a boxy boyfirend style shirt in a crisp cotton or something a little less roomy in a slinky fabric. This is your moment to get out the satin!

Four great options for you, First up for the boxy boyfriend style either the Carry Blouse from Fibre Mood or the Bara Studio Olivia. If the slinky version floated your boat then either the Atelier Jupe Este or the Vikisews Kaia.
