The Maker's Atelier Pleated Skirt

Buy the Pleated Skirt sewing pattern from The Maker's Atelier. A versatile box-pleat skirt that can work across the seasons – in lighter weight cottons and linens for summer and in brushed cottons or woollen fabrics for winter.

The pattern includes two skirt lengths. This style has pockets in the side seams and is fastened with a zip and button or hook-and-bar fastening at the centre back. The pleats can be fluid and soft or crisply pressed for a sharper look.

Suggested fabrics: Light to medium weight woven fabrics: cottons for pressed pleats and more fluid woollens or crepe constructions for softer pleats.

Fabric requirements:

Shorter length: 120 cm (48") wide fabric: 1.8 - 2 m (2 - 2 1/4 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 1.5 - 1.7 m (1 3/4 - 2 yd).

Longer length: 120 cm (48") wide fabric: 2 - 2.2 m (2 1/4 - 2 1/2 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 1.8 - 1.9 m (2 - 2 1/4 yd).

Note: To economise on fabric, the waistband for sizes 14-22 in 120 cm (48") wide fabric is placed across the grain. If the waistband is placed along the grain, the fabric requirement is 2.5 m (2 3/4 yd) for the shorter length or 2.7 m (3 yd) for the longer length.

Sizing: 4 – 22 (approx. UK 4 – 20, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 18 cm (7") zip; button or hook-and-bar fastening for the waistband; optional seam binding for the hem.
