It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!
If you are on the hunt for a trans-seasonal jacket or autumn layer to sew, this update has you covered. With new patterns from In the Folds, I AM Patterns and Puff and Pencil, we have plenty of options for your consideration!
We've had a batch of new patterns from In the Folds that were previously only available to subscribers.
Cartwright Dress and Top: A clean and classic design, Cartwright is a go-to wardrobe staple that just lets you get on with your day. The relaxed fitting knee-length dress and hip-length top both feature bust darts and subtle shaping through the side seams for a boxy fit that doesn't swamp you. It's easy to sew and throw over your head in the mornings.
Gibson Loungewear Set: An elevated loungewear set designed to be worn in bed, at home or out and about. Beautiful seam finishes ensure comfort and wearability. Made up of four pieces, you can choose to make a set or just make the pieces that fit best into your wardrobe and lifestyle. The set comprises of a top, dress, shorts and trousers, so it's good value for money.
Attwood Pants: One for the pocket lovers! A modern take on casual pants, Attwood is a pattern that will delight from so many angles. These elasticated pants sit on the natural waist. They feature patchwork-esque panels and are sewn with flat felled seams. Large patch pockets wrap around from front to back and are secured with topstitching.
Stow Dress: Designed to be worn over and over - on its own in summer, or layered with a long sleeve top and tights in winter, it's autumn-friendly piece. It has a slight cocoon shape. A visually appealing V-neck features on both the front and back of the dress, with bust darts to create shaping.
Hove Tote: Gifting season is almost upon us and this would be a great option if you fancy making some handmade gifts. With a puzzle-like construction and seam finishes on the outside, it can be made all in one fabric or in contrasting colours to highlight the different sections and shapes. It features a pleat with a pocket, knife pleats to create volume, and a facing to finish the top edge.
Kealy T-shirt: An easy basic T-shirt you can whip up again and again, Kealy has a a relaxed, easy-wearing fit that finishes at the hip. With two sleeve length options (short or three-quarter) and a banded neckline, Kealy is a versatile piece that suits both solids and prints, the bold or understated.
Marden Shirt: A boxy shirt designed with comfortable movement in mind. It features a classic collar and stand, concealed button placket, and French seams give it a professional finish. With two sleeve options (long or capped), Marden is a perfect wardrobe addition for any season.
Puff and Pencil Bomber Jacket: If you want to flex your sewing muscles and make something that is both on-trend and a wardrobe staple, this is a good project to check out. Kate spotted bomber jackets making another appearance in the high street this autumn in her Sew the Trends update, so it is having a moment. This loose-fitting lined jacket features a collar, ribbing at the wrists and hips, and optional welt pockets. The jacket closes with a zipper at the front.
