Buy the Stow Dress sewing pattern from In the Folds. The Stow Dress is the ultimate wardrobe staple. Designed to be worn over and over - on its own in summer, or layered with a long sleeve top and tights in winter.

Stow is a sleeveless, knee-length design with a slight cocoon shape. A visually appealing V-neck features on both the front and back of the dress, with bust darts to create shaping.

Choose between an easy pull-over option (View A) or a centre front button placket (View B). View A has an all-in-one facing that finishes the neckline and armholes, and features patch pockets. View B has in-seam pockets, and the neckline and armholes are finished with bias binding.

Sewing level: Confident beginner / Intermediate

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: The pattern will show both the cutting lines (in black) and stitching lines (in pale grey). Some of the pattern pieces have been split (to fit on the A0 sheets) and will need to be joined together.

Suggested fabrics: Light to heavy weight fabrics. The fabric you choose will determine how the dress holds its shape, so consider the silhouette you are aiming for when selecting fabric. The designer suggests mid-weight denim, corduroy, mid to heavy weight cottons and linens. For something more relaxed, consider linen, linen blends, cotton or chambray.

Fabric requirements: You will require more fabric if lengthening or using self-made binding (View B).

Sizes A – J

View A: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 2.1 - 3.5 m (2.3 - 3.9 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 1.9 - 2.9 m (2.1 - 3.2 yd).

View B: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 2.2 - 2.8 m (2.4 - 3.1 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 1.6 - 2.6 m (1.8 - 2.9 yd).

Sizes G – P

View A: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 3.1 - 3.6 m (3.4 - 4 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 2.6 - 3.4 m (2.9 - 3.8 yd).

View B: 115 cm (45") wide fabric (sizes G-N only): 2.7 - 2.9 m (3 - 3.2 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 2.2 - 2.8 m (2.5 - 3.1 yd).

Sizing: A – J and G – P (approx. UK 6 – 26/28 and UK 18/20 – 44, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size charts and finished garment measurements.

This pattern is available in two size brackets: sizes A-J and sizes G-P. The sizes A-J pattern has been drafted for a B cup bust (5 cm/2" difference between high bust and full bust measurements). The sizes G-P pattern has been drafted for a D cup bust (10 cm/4" difference between high bust and full bust measurements).

If your measurements are in the overlap section of the size charts (G-J), the designer suggests using the G-P pattern to achieve the best fit.

This pattern has been drafted for a height of 170 cm (5'7"). Use the LENGTHEN/SHORTEN lines on the pattern to make alterations to the length.

Notions: View B: 32 mm (1 1/4") single-fold bias tape (if using pre-made, this is 12 mm (1/2")); eight 1.2-1.5 cm (1/2"-5/8") buttons.

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (37 pages for sizes A-J, 47 pages for sizes G-P); A0 copy shop pattern (3 sheets for sizes A-J, 3 sheets for sizes G-P) // Layers: Yes // Projector file: No.
