SEWING PATTERNS FOR QUILTED FABRIC

SEWING PATTERNS FOR QUILTED FABRIC
Kate Underdown

Have pre-quilted fabrics caught your eye? Maybe you’ve already succumbed to their squashy call and are stuck for what to make with them. Pre-quilted fabrics do what they say on the tin. The fiddly quilting is done for you so you can get on with sewing a piece that is bang on the quilted trend without investing all that time. You can find them in cotton, sweatshirting, coating and more!

If you want to make something with this trending fabric before the weather warms up, I have all the need-to-know patterns. Enjoy this little edit of sewing patterns, preferably with a big mug of something hot and a cosy blanket.

  1. I AM Patterns Hathor Vest – a timeless sleeveless vest with 18 versions to choose from – a great value pattern!
  2. Fibre Mood Irma Bodywarmer – go carefree without a belt or add one for a touch of class.
  3. Helen’s Closet Unisex Wildwood Jacket + Vest – features unique overlapping shoulder and side seams, making it an easy pattern to adjust for your preferred fit.
  4. Juliana Martejevs Keira Vest  – a trendy gilet with curved hem, just perfect for an autumn walk through the forest or a day in the city.
  1. Ready to Sew Pekka Jacket – an oversized mid-season jacket with wide armholes and a simplified lining. Its slightly cropped sleeves and generously sized pockets make it a stylish choice for layering.
  2. I AM Patterns Gaston Jacket – a jersey jacket with six versions, both classic and casual. A great pick if you’ve been eyeing up quilted sweatshirt fabric.
  3. Friday Pattern Company Pogonip Pullover– designed for woven or stable knit fabrics so you can have lots of fun with your fabric choice. It looks great in quilted fabrics and has a clever optional packable pocket (with strap).
  4. Camimade Coquillage Quilted Jacket – with four versions, but with two necklines, two lengths, an optional elasticated waist, and three different pocket options, there are many combinations.
  1. Megan Nielsen Hovea Jacket and Coat – featuring multiple lengths; deep-angled feature pockets; unlined, full lining or quilted options; and belt or tie closures, this community favourite looks great in pre-quilted fabric.
  2. Birgitta Helmersson ZW Bell Jacket – a zero-waste jacket with a rounded collar, front button closure, three front patch pockets, an inverted box pleat at the centre back neck, and wide sleeves to fit over all your winter layers.
  3. Maison Fauve Dandelion Jacket – combines the carefully considered volume of a bomber jacket with the waistband design of a biker jacket. Additional features include a button front, back pleats, and a collar that nicely hugs the neck.

  2. Fibre Mood Marcia Jacket + Bodywarmer – this pattern can serve as a bodywarmer or jacket and the sleeves that zip on and off depending on your mood.
  3. Papercut Patterns Emmi Jacket – a versatile pattern with loads of different ways to make it. The pattern comes with a collar pack consisting of four interchangeable collar options: bomber, classic, funnel neck and hood. You could even make them all and swap them around depending on your outfit!
