The Rome Weekender is a functional and stylish bag that’s perfect for a weekend away or any other occasion that requires spare clothing or equipment. The pattern includes two options: View A is fully lined with a quilted back and front, and View B is unlined for a quick and easy project. Both variations feature a convenient front pocket, a large internal back pocket for documents or a laptop, two internal side pockets to keep you organised, dual handles, and an adjustable and removable shoulder strap.

Main: Durable, medium to heavy weight woven fabric with some structure, such as canvas, twill, waxed cotton, denim, some types of upholstery, pre-quilted fabrics, etc.

Lining (View A): Lightweight woven fabric.

Fabric requirements: 

110 cm (42″) wide fabric: View A, 1.2 m (1 1/3 yd) main + 1.25 m (1 1/3 yd) lining + 0.5 m (1/2 yd) wadding + 0.5 m (1/2 yd) backing // View B, 1.2 m (1 1/3 yd) main.

150 cm (59″) wide fabric: View A, 0.8 m (1 yd) main + 0.8 m (1 yd) lining + 0.5 m (1/2 yd) wadding + 0.5 m (1/2 yd) backing // View B, 0.8 m (1 yd) main.

Sizing: Finished measurements: W 45 cm (17 3/4″) x H 36 cm (14 1/4″) x D 20 cm (8″).

Notions: 4 m (4 1/2 yd) of 3.8 cm-4 cm (1 1/2″) wide webbing; two D-rings, one slider buckle, and two swivel hooks to match width of webbing; one 56 cm (22″) long standard zip or continuous zip cut to size with one or two sliders; 2.5 cm (1″) wide bias binding, 3 m (3 1/3 yd) for View A or 5 m (5 1/2 yd) for view B; one 5 cm (2″) piece of hook and loop fastening tape (velcro) // Optional: 1 m/yd of medium weight interfacing (for use with lighter weight fabric).
