It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know, so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

We've almost made it through January, and 2026's new arrivals already indicate that it will be a stellar year for sewing patterns. This week, I'll walk you through two dream jacket patterns, a skirt that wouldn't look out of place in Claudia's Traitors' wardrobe, and I'll share a trouser pattern that has that elusive flat front and elasticated back.

True Bias Ayla Pants

Looking for an elevated pair of stretch trousers? Ayla is a polished take on pull-on bottoms designed for knit fabrics. You get two views to choose from, both of which are fitted through the waist and hips and include a wide elastic waistband. Smart enough for the office yet comfortable enough to lounge on the sofa, Ayla is a wardrobe staple.

Merchant & Mills Nevis Skirt

We've been crushing on Claudia's fit-for-a-castle The Traitors wardrobe, and this design would faithfully fit in. For climbing mountains, pounding pavements or Traitor hunting, this walking skirt has two versions. The tie-waistband is the easy option, and the button waistband takes the difficulty up a notch.

Itch to Stitch Laon Shirt

We see a lot of boxy styles in the shirt department, so if you are after a more shaped shirt, this is a great choice. Laon features princess seams from the armholes for subtle shaping. Cup sizes ensure a beautifully contoured fit for every body.

Camimade Villers Jacket

You might want to add more than one jacket to your spring sewing list. The Villers pattern mixes references from the classic chore jacket and denim jacket. The choice of three collars offers plenty of versatility, and the production flat-felled seams deliver longevity. My eye is on that delightful Peter Pan collar!

Madswick Capella Coat

Keen on making a quilted jacket this spring, but have yet to find the one? This 2-in-1 coat could be it! A nod to your favourite bomber jacket, but with a quilted twist, Capella is fully reversible. It has a boxy fit, slight drop shoulder, button front, elasticated back hem, optional hood, bias-bound seams.

Tessuti Fabrics Alba Pants

Flat on the front and elasticated in the back, the Alba Pants hit that sweet spot. These stylish mid-rise trousers feature wide, cropped legs with a subtly curved silhouette. The curved inset front pockets echo that shape, and the patch pocket on the back is just icing on the cake!
