THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES - 4 OCTOBER

It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know, so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

I blinked as September must have passed me by, because it is now October, and I am not sure how that happened! I have an excellent selection of patterns to share this week. From a cute little layering top that requires very little fabric to a skirt that sits on the right side of simple, there are some gems to add to your sewing wish list.

Merchant & Mills Joa Top

Looking for a sewing quick fix? A speedy project that will easily slot into your autumn wardrobe and won't need too much fabric (the perfect opportunity to splash out on something special!)? Take a look at the Joa Top. A simple, lined wrap top that can be quilted or not. Wear it on its own or layer it up in the colder months as a gilet.

Wardrobe by Me Simple Skirt

We frequently get requests for a simple skirt, the kind of easy-to-wear piece that is also a breeze to sew. There aren't as many skirt patterns for this request, so I'm pleased to see this design pop up. This pull-on knit skirt features a flowing A-line silhouette and an elasticated waist. The pattern includes two lengths: 71 cm (28") and 94 cm (37").

Liesl + Co. Condesa Quilted Vest

This quilted vest adds a great finishing touch to your outfit while also providing extra warmth. Its design is oversized and boxy, so it can be easily layered. Choose two lightweight fabrics you love and quilt it yourself with batting/wadding in between. The vest has a stand collar and welt pockets (View A) or easier quilted patch pockets (View B). Add buttons or snaps, or skip them if you prefer.

The Assembly Line Regular Fit T-Shirt

A classic T-shirt with options for short, elbow-length, and long sleeves. It features a ribbed neckband, which can be replaced with a neck facing for a more refined finish. You can also add a skirt to create a T-shirt dress. It has a relaxed unisex fit suitable for both adults and children.

The Assembly Line Cross-Over Shirt

This easy fit shirt has a cross-over front and 3/4 batwing sleeves. It has a concealed button closure and is mid-hip length. It looks great styled open too!

The Assembly Line Anorak

This regular fit anorak with a short front zipper opening is pulled on over the head. The hem can be finished in two ways: a shaped hem with softly rounded side slits or a straight hem with an optional drawstring for adjustable volume. The neckline can be made with a hood or finished with facings for a simple round shape. An optional large front patch pocket with a flap adds functionality and a distinctive design detail.

The Assembly Line Wrap Dress

The Wrap Dress features a shirt collar with a centre front button, bracelet-length sleeves, a single-button fastening on one side, and narrow ties on the inside of the other side. It has an asymmetrical A-line skirt and pockets in the side seams. You can vary your dress by replacing the button with ties, skipping the collar, or omitting the back bodice darts to create a looser fit through the back.

Atelier Scämmit Tropique Poncho or Beach Dress

One pattern, two options for the whole family: a poncho or beach dress for the ultimate summer vibe! The poncho features a hood (lined or with exposed binding), an optional kangaroo pocket, and a practical side opening for easy changing. The dress is perfect slipped on over a swimsuit for an effortlessly boho look. Wear it cinched at the waist with the removable belt.

Atelier Scämmit Recif Skort

Recif combines the practicality of shorts with the femininity of a skirt. The waistband is elasticated at the back and flat at the front for minimal fullness. There are two length options: a very short skirt and a short skirt.

I hope you enjoyed that edit of new arrivals. I'll see you next week for another update.
