Madswick Capella Coat

Buy the Capella Coat sewing pattern from Madswick. A nod to your favourite bomber jacket, but with a quilted twist. Capella has a boxy fit, slight drop shoulder, button front, elasticated back hem, optional hood, bias-bound seams, and reversible design. Suggested fabrics: 

Pre-quilted fabric: Light to medium weight (200-300 gsm / 6-9 oz) pre-quilted fabrics with a structured yet comfortable feel. Suitable options include pre-quilted cottons or cotton blends, pre-quilted nylon or polyester outerwear fabrics, or quilted double-cloth fabrics.

You will also need a complementary fabric for the bias binding and button band facing. The designer recommends lightweight, tightly woven fabrics such as quilting cotton, cotton poplin, linen, or cotton lawn. 

Quilt it yourself: Lightweight fabrics such as quilting cotton, homespun cotton, lightweight linen, or linen/cotton blends, along with a lightweight batting.

Sizing: 0 – 15 (approx. UK 4/6 – 34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern is drafted for a B/C cup and 5'6" (1.68 m) height.

Notions: Ten to twelve 5/8" (1.6 cm) buttons; 3/8" (1 cm) wide non-roll elastic // Optional: walking foot; marking tool such as tailors chalk or a hera marker for marking quilting lines.
