TOP 10 PATTERN RELEASES OF 2025

As the year comes to a close, we've been reviewing our 2025 'best bits', which, of course, means swotting up on the indie patterns that have captivated you this year. It's been a remarkable year for new pattern releases, and this blog rounds up the most popular new designs in 2025.

This list is full of inspiration for your upcoming sewing projects. How many have you made so far, and what pattern additions might you consider for your 2025 creations? One thing is for sure: this is a truly unmissable list!

Fabric Godmother Aspen Dress

We spotted this style all over the high street in 2025, so we weren't surprised to see Aspen sitting at the top of this list. Fabric Godmother created the perfect pattern for sewing your own custom version.

Featuring an exposed zip front opening and trendy midi length, you can sew this dress with long or short sleeves (but let's be honest, you'll want one of each!). Aspen looks best in fabrics with some weight and structure, so it's a cold-weather-friendly style.

The Maker's Atelier Flared Shirt

After a year with bows on blouses, it seems sewists were really to make something simpler and less whimsical. This casual, pull-on, flared shirt can be sewn with or without sleeves and is perfect for making in linen or cooling cottons. It is unfussy, understated and just what you need for warmer weather. Layer a quilted vest or gilet over the top to keep it in your closet through the colder months.

Madswick Ginkgo Pinafore

If you are a fan of pinafore dresses and are partial to clever pattern cutting, you must check out Ginkgo. It's fully lined and features a dartless bodice with two neckline options. The dartless design means you can wear it back to front, tied at the sides, in the front, or in the back. It's so versatile!

Sew House Seven Revel Topper

Detect a theme? Another simple and elegant top, Revel quietly dominated the bestseller list in 2025. This sewing pattern is quick and satisfying to make with some great design details. Designed for confident beginners and beyond, it's a welcome addition to your easy-to-sew collection. You'll love the cut-on shawl collar with a yoke-like collar facing. It allows for a concealed construction or a purposeful front yoke for colour blocking, pattern mixing, embroidery, etc.

Pinafores popped up all over the high street in 2025 - hurrah! A V-neckline was a popular detail, so Margo is a trendy yet timeless project to add to your sewing list. Choose between a deep V-neckline and a square neckline and layer Margo over your favourite turtleneck or tee for a carefree outfit of the day!

With the Falconer pattern, you have a choice of barrel or wide leg, so you don't have to commit to the trend. Both views feature a unique side panel detail with set-in side pockets and have a zipper fly closure and a curved waistband. Helen's instructions are always top-notch, so this is a great pattern to step up your sewing skills.
