Super Easy

Love love love this pattern. I’ve made two, one in linen and one in needle cord. So long as you are very careful with the cutting out it comes together well.
For the second one I attached the collar and the facing at the same time and I preferred this method of construction.
Planning a velvet or silk one for Christmas.

Perfect for an ambitious beginner

This was an absolute blast to sew. It took me around ~2 days to whip up. I'm an advanced beginner/intermediate sewist, and I think this pattern might be a little too advanced for an absolute beginner (the collar was a bit fiddly). The back collar piece is also meant to be mirrored, but the pattern instructions don't reflect that. I'm absolutely going to be making another in a different fabric (and perhaps another size, for my sister)!

Absolute success…in the end…. Beginners beware….

I saw this pattern yesterday lunchtime, thought it had potential as WBM’s designs are usually top notch, despite all else. But you have to know a bit about sewing and be prepared to use common sewing sense as the PDF download is problematic (Mel from the Foldline is kindly looking into this) and missing alignment lines on some pages. Still, I persevered and made my best guess how to join the sheets. There are very few pattern pieces, it looked too simple and I was afraid it would be shapeless. So I used a piece of crisp pale pink linen (pink normally doesn’t suit me) as a kind of upmarket toile. The end result? Adorable. Even me in pink. Again, the cut is excellent and its simplicity makes it work (I recommend the 3/4 sleeves).
WBM doesn’t recommend pattern layouts, - I wish they would. And if you don’t have the Layers feature on your printer, the end result is a mass of different sizes, which are easy to follow for your size apart from button / button hole markings which are completely undecipherable. I just made mine 10cm apart. I also inserted the sleeves by creating a large T shape before sewing side seams, rather than insert separately.

So I will make this again in a pale lemon, as it is cute. I used a size 6, but could have chosen 4 based on my measurements. I will post a photo if I can get a decent one of me!
