THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES - 3 AUGUST

It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

We've entered a new era - the august era, and there are some cracking patterns setting the tone. From breezy dresses and jumpsuits to a tote bag that is so organised, it makes Monica from Friends look messy. Pop on this week's Edit, and enjoy your new sewing pattern update.

Matchy Matchy Schoolhouse Sundress

The Schoolhouse Sundress is a beginner-friendly sewing pattern designed for creative play and joyful making. With its simple shapes and easy construction, it’s the perfect project for getting your summer sewing fix, without spending too long at the machine.

Sew Over It Courtney Jumpsuit

If you are partial to a jumpsuit, this new arrival is worth a closer look. With stylish wide legs and a choice of two necklines, this pattern is an excuse to sew something for your next 'dressed-up' event. The strappy bodice is fitted with princess seams, and closes with an invisible zip at the centre back. It's a knockout design!

The Modern Sewing Co. Day Tote

Not all totes are made equal. This one has some very pleasing organisation going on that will make rooting around your bag looking for your stuff a thing of the past. Inspired by the 'everyday tote' – the workhorse of the bag department – the Day Tote is the perfect sized bag for all your needs, whether for groceries, the beach, the gym or work. It has a roomy interior with a flat base and four handy pockets, including a laptop pocket for devices or books

Silversaga Patterns Chloe Dress and Top

If your brand is romantic, meets vintage, meets cottagecore, meets breezy, Chloe is my dress recommendation for you. Inspired by the timeless elegance of vintage chemise dresses, Chloe is a modern take on this classic silhouette – easy to sew, easy to wear, and perfect for everyday life.

Itch to Stitch Irazu Skirt

Skirts with yoke details have very much been on trend this season, and we love them. The Irazu skirt is the possibly the most perfect iteration we have seen. Designed for light- to medium-weight, non-stretch woven fabric with some drape, Irazu comes with three hem variations: knee length, midi length, or ruffled midi length. It sits at the natural waist, with an invisible side zipper for a clean finish, and elastic sewn into the back waist seam for flexibility and comfort.

Tammy Handmade Lila Panties

If you haven't discovered how satisfying it is to sew yourself a drawer full of pants, this might be your moment. A great scrap busting project, you can sew Lila with a regular sewing machine or an overlocker, and the beginner-friendly instructions mean you’ll breeze through tricky steps like lining the gusset to achieve a professional finish. You have two rises to pick from, so you can choose your favourite or sew an assortment of both!

So, hopefully that's given you food for thought for your August sewing!
