THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES - 26 JANUARY

It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

We've almost made it through January team, and 2025's new arrivals already indicate that it will be a stellar year for sewing patterns. This week I'll walk you through Named's latest collection, the perfect pattern to pack for winter sun seekers and a bias slip skirt that is easy to sew. Grab a cuppa, snuggle up and don't forget your sewing notebook!

'Mellow Meadow' is the latest collection in the Named catalogue, and it's a beauty. The four patterns can be interchanged and worn as a capsule, or you can pick your favourite design to slot into your handmade wardrobe.

Named Maite Raglan Tunic and Dress: Looking for something chic to sew for an upcoming cruise or summer holiday? This is the epitome of resort wear and I don't think you'd regret sewing this for your great escape. The pattern includes two variations: a chic tunic and an elegant maxi dress - both just as lovely as each other.

Named Asteri Button-down Dress and Vest: Kate spotted this style of vest on the high street in our Sew the Trends: Autumn update, and this is the one we were waiting for! The pattern includes two options: an elegant sleeveless midi dress and a stylish vest top. If you fancy sewing one trend-led piece this spring, I think this is a great option.

Named Aulio Elastic Waist Shorts and Trousers: This 2-in-1 sewing pattern includes two simple options: casual shorts and classic wide-leg trousers. Both variations have a high elasticated waist with a cord casing. These timeless garments are quick and easy to sew and comfy to wear! If you are an absolute beginner and want to sew your own trousers, this is the perfect pattern to do it with.

Named Ulpu Cross Neck Tank Top: A delightfully simple yet interesting top pattern! The straps of the top cross in front, creating a beautiful keyhole detail at the neckline. The top is double-layered, with an elastic band at the bottom of the lining under the bust, so it can be worn without a bra if desired.

Coralie Bijasson Naïma Jacket: We've seen quite a few call-outs in our Facebook group for occasion jackets and this is a fantastic option. Naïma features a distinctive stand-up shawl collar, and flap pockets with piping add a sophisticated and functional touch. Choose fabrics such as wool, denim or velvet for a perfect everyday version, or opt for the refinement of jacquard for an elegant look.

Nina Lee Alameda Slip Dress and Skirt: Bias cut slip skirts are hot right now and this clever pattern gives you are dress option too! The dress has a nipped-in waist seam (with an optional side seam zip) to lend definition, whilst the skirt features an elasticated waistband. It's a surprisingly simple pattern so confident beginners and beyond will enjoy this project.

Tessuti Fabrics Aida Dress: If you are chasing the sun and need something new to pack, this new Tessuti pattern is a great option. Perfect for day to night, from the beach to the terrace, Aida works for its place in your luggage. The unique colour-blocked panels form a sculptural silhouette, making this simple dress far from run-of-the-mill. Accessorise to your heart's content, and you have a winning dress that will look different depending on those finishing touches.

I'll leave you with those gems to mull over and will see you back her in a weeks time!
