THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES - 2 FEBRUARY
It’s time for your weekly dose ofThe Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!
It's been a cracking week of deliveries - virtual or otherwise, so I have plenty to share with you this week. I'll be flicking through the latest edition of Tauko magazine, sharing my favourite Pauline Alice patterns as we added the entire PDF back catalogue, and will be sharing the ultimate sleep set.
Step into the timeless allure of denim with TAUKO Magazine Issue No. 14. This issue explores denim’s rich history, shares expert tips and contains ten patterns designed for denim fabrics.
These patterns celebrate fresh perspectives on denim – from bold topstitching and rivets to a subtle nod to the 80s cowgirl aesthetic – showcasing the unique vision of each designer.
There are ten sewing patterns included in the magazine, ready for tracing off in UK sizes 6-32, including a pinafore dress designed by none other than Helen Wilkinson of Helen's Closet!
Pauline Alice Mila Jumpsuit and Dress: A 2-in-1 pattern to sew a modern jumpsuit or dress. Both views feature a V-neckline finished with a facing, a high waistline, and wraparound waist ties.
Pauline Alice Ayora Jacket: Kate's personal favourite, this short quilted jacket has set-in sleeves and is reversible.
Pauline Alice Morella Pants and Skirt: A 2-in-1 pattern that gives you a skirt and trousers to sew. Both views have an elasticised waistband and deep curved pockets.
JULIANA MARTEJEVS Pyjama Bundle: With this three pattern bundle you can sew yourself a cosy pair of pyjamas and a matching sleep mask! You can also buy the Serena Pyjama Shirt on it's own, the Lana Pants on their own and download the Aurora Eye Mask pattern for free. The bundle of all three includes a saving.
The Patterns Room Tina Skirt: If you prefer gathered skirts to have a more fitted shape, the Tina Skirt is worth a look. This maxi skirt features a lined yoke that hugs the hips, with a gathered tier below. A checked fabric is ideal for the cooler months and a linen will be lovely in the summer.
That wraps up the first Edit of the month, I hope you have a great week!

Oh Sunday mornings with toast & marmalade, a mug of tea & The Edit! What more does a sewist need to fuel their weekend fantasies?

Kate,
From the start of the video, I noticed your jacket and was hoping you would tell us about it. It has a lovely neckline and color. I think the color looks fabulous on you. With your hair color, glasses, black top, and gold necklace, it was great. I encourage you to look at a picture of you from the video with fresh eyes and maybe it will grow on you.
Overdying can be tricky. If the color is strong enough on the outside, you will lose the pop of the lining. If it were me and I had your coloring, I would wear it to death, with black tops, and forget the dying.
Love your videos!
Best wishes,
Dianna

Your jacket distracted me straight away, it’s such a lovely soft colour on you and then I noticed the style of the jacket and wondered where you’d got that from!!! ( 🙄)
I’ve got that Pauline Alice pattern on my ‘ideas list’ for some quilted cotton I have. It looks lovely. You’ve just bumped it up the list.
Thank you as always for your cheerful voice on a Sunday morning.
