THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES - 20 JULY
It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!
Get ready to raise a glass, as this week I'll be celebrating a pattern's 15th birthday and unwrapping new design options that'll keep this pattern going strong for years to come. I'll also be flipping through the latest issue of Tauko magazine and will share two new sewing tool must-haves that'll elevate your practice.
Tauko Magazine Issue No. 16
If architecture floats your boat, the new issue of Tauko magazine is going to pique your interest! Issue No. 16 explores the fascinating shared language between fashion and architecture: garments that are precise, sculptural, and bold enough to hold their own shape. The articles focus on a quieter story: one of mending, caring, and creating with intention.
Merchant & Mills Trapeze Pattern Additions
Celebrating their 15th anniversary and their very first pattern, Merchant & Mills have come up with seven different ways to transform the Trapeze Dress. If you don't own the Trapeze Dress pattern yet, this is the moment to take the plunge as this add-on pack means it will become your most made pattern!
Wardrobe by Me Skagen Dress and Top
This light and airy summer essential features a relaxed, feminine silhouette, softly gathered neckline with elastic at the front and back, and slender shoulder straps formed from extended armhole bindings. Its can be transformed with your fabric choice, from wedding-guest-ready dress, to summer top, to sightseeing summer dress.
Emporia Patterns Paloma Dress and Skirt
This summer maxi dress features a halter neck and dramatic wide A-line skirt. Cinched at the waist with a simple belt, Paloma can go from a day at the beach to full-on glamour at the bar with a change of accessories. Large cutaway patch pockets mean you’ve always got somewhere to put your phone or your suncream, and the simple tie at the back neck means there are no tricky closures. You can also make a very useful elasticated waist skirt with this pattern.
Hemline Pattern Notcher
Use this handy tool to notch your paper patterns. It has a sprung handle for ease of use and makes neat and precise 7 mm deep rectangular cuts. Notching your patterns before you use them makes marking notches easier and makes them more obvious, ensuring you don't miss one off!
Tessuti Fabrics Tear-Away Vilene Pack
Originally developed as a stabilising backing for embroidery, this particular weight of tear-off interlining is used in the ready-to-wear industry to prevent stretching and distortion of vulnerable areas during the construction process. Using tear-away Vilene ensures necklines, armholes, waistlines, curved pocket edges, and more remain the correct shape and length. It then tears away easily, even on the lightest silks and georgettes. Tessuti patterns already include templates for tear-away Vilene shields, but you can use them with other patterns by making your own templates.
Peppermint Magazine Issue 63
Peppermint is an Australian magazine focused on style, sustainability, sewing and substance. Issue 63 includes a full-size printed sewing pattern for the Acacia A-line Skirt, designed in collaboration with Weft and Warp Fabrics. Curved front pockets and a fun exposed zip detail at the back make this style pop!
So, what's it to be? Will any of these lovely patterns be joining your sewing queue?
Could you please tell me how I can ensure that I receive all your blogs. I am new to sewing and love your page. I have just requested to join the Facebook group as well.
Thank you
