THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES - 12 JANUARY
It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!
We're baaaaaack! Happy New Year Foldliners! Are you ready for the first Edit of 2025? I'm pleased to report that it's stuffed with lovely new patterns perfect for kickstarting the sewing year. There's an easy-fitting pinafore, a chuck-on shirt/dress and a selection of lovely patterns from a new designer you might have missed.
Elle Stitch Patterns: Do you enjoy discovering new indie designers? We are always on the hunt for exciting new patterns to add to the shop and we are thrilled to welcome Elle Stitch to the Fold Line family. Ellen is an avid sewist, maker and designer whose goal is to design modern and inclusive sewing patterns for all to enjoy. Elle Stitch is based on the sunny NSW South Coast in Australia, and you can feel it in every design!
Madswick Gingko Pinafore: If you are a fan of pinafore dresses and are partial to clever pattern cutting, you must check out Ginkgo. It's fully lined and features a dartless bodice with two neckline options. The dartless design means it can be worn back to front, tied at the sides, in the front, or in the back. It's so versatile!
Wardrobe by Me Big Shirt and Dress: An effortless piece you can throw on in the mornings is a must, especially in January when getting out of bed feels much harder. The oversized fit will be comfortable to wear and the voluminous sleeves are a lovely touch. You can sew the dress or top with a collar or collar stand.
Itch to Stitch Koersel Cape: Fancy a simple and useful project to get your 2025 sewing started? This modern cape features an open-front design, spacious elbow-length sleeves, and an oversized hood. Koersel adds an instant touch of luxury while keeping you warm.
Sew Over It Carly Dress and Top: We've spotted the polo shape popping up this season as a great alternative warm layer, and this pattern is spot on for recreating the style. Make Carly as a versatile hip-length top or contemporary midi dress. A shaped seam at the centre back will help you to get a nice fit that skims the body without being too tight.
Madalynne Monet Merry Widow: Looking to take on a new sewing challenge this year? Corset making is a great way to slow down, develop new skills and make something you may have never even shopped for before! The corset is designed to be a versatile garment, and transitions seamlessly from lingerie worn underneath clothing to outerwear layered under a blazer or sheer top.
Selvedge Magazine: Issue 122 - Winter White: If you want to curl up and pretend winter isn't happening, why not curl up with a great read? Selvedge is as beautiful as it is interesting and this edition takes a deep dive into natural fibres.
It's good to be back, but that's your lot for this week... see you in seven days time!
