Marsha Style Sia Dress

Buy the Sia Dress sewing pattern from Marsha Style. Sia is a mini or midi length dress that can be lined or unlined. It features a low V neckline with a hook and eye for modesty, front bust pleats, back bodice darts, and a shaped waistband with optional self fabric ties. The skirt has front pleats, back darts, a non-functioning front button placket, and side splits. There are two sleeve options: a short sleeve with ties, or a mid length puffed sleeve. Both feature gathers at the sleeve head. Sia has an invisible zipper in the back.

Suggested fabrics: 

Main fabric: This dress is best suited to a fabric that is soft and drapes well. Consider using light to mid weight fabrics such as linen, linen blends, cotton and cotton gauze. For a softer silhouette consider polyester, viscose, rayon, tencel, silk or blends of these. The surface texture of a crepe or crinkle is also a great option.

Lining (optional): Choose a lining that has similar properties to your main fabric so that they work together in your garment.

Fabric requirements: 

View A (midi length with tie sleeves): 45″ (1.15 m) wide fabric: 3.2 – 5.2 yd (3.0 – 4.7 m) // 58″ (1.5 m) wide fabric: 2.6 – 3.4 yd (2.4 – 3.1 m).

View B (midi length with puff sleeves): 45″ (1.15 m) wide fabric – only use this width if you can top and tail pattern pieces: 3.4 – 4.6 yd (3.1 – 4.2 m) // 58″ (1.5 m) wide fabric: 2.6 – 3.8 yd (2.4 – 3.5 m).

Sizing: US 2 – 22 (approx. UK 6 – 26, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern has been drafted for a height of 170 cm (5’7″) and to fit a bust from size A to DD.

Notions: Coordinating thread; 56 cm (22″) invisible zipper; 20 cm of lightweight fusing; 10 mm (3/8″) buttons: 7 for midi length, 5 for mini length; hook and eye // Views B and D only: 6 mm (1/4″) elastic.
