AUTUMN TRENDS - PART 1

Sew the trends is back for Autumn and it's my favourite season of the year. There are lots of lovely new things in the shops, you can pull out your knitwear again - hurrah!! As usual I've scoured the high street and hunted out trends so you can sew up some lovely stuff for your handmade wardrobe.
There was so much to go through that I have made this into a two-parter! For a full rundown check out the video and links to all the patterns mentioned are below.
Let's talk fabrics shall we. Two key trends for winter is suede and tweeds. In lovely soft browns and chocolates.
The colours palette for this season is really autumnal. Some would say pretty muted but it's a great palette as they all work really well together. Plus you are bound to have some of these already in your wardrobe to work with.
I'm going to focus on outerwear this week and cover everything else next week. So lets start with the big coat. We are thinking big and boxy.. imagine you've stolen your Dad's coat.
The two patterns that I've chosen I think work perfectly. The Phoebe is perhaps a little boxier in the shoulder but either would be a great choice.

Next up we have the funnel neck coat. Quite cropped but with that lovely collar to keep you warm.
The patterns that we found were quite good. Bother need a few tweaks. The Dila you's nede to shorten a lot and the Grance you'd want to leave off the pockets and some of the sportier details.
This was probably one of my favourite trends from this season the coat scarf. The Arket and Cos were the style I saw the most of, but lots of interesting tie details in outerwear.
I was pretty pleased with my offering here and came up with some spot on options!

The Car/Barn Coat is back again for autumn, choose from either a box boyfriend cut or something a little more fitted and cropped.
If you fancy the boxy oversized version then Birgitta's is the way to go, just size up. The other two are fantastic if you like a shorter version.
