AUTUMN TRENDS - PART 2

Welcome back to part 2 of Sew the Trends.. if you didn't catch last weeks instalment make sure that you go back and watch it here. Right so where were we? Outerwear covers so it's time to get into the nitty gritty of tops, bottoms and dresses... enjoy
The simple fitted dress was popular this season with lots of options available on the high street.
There are some fantastic options available. For a classic shape the McCalls and Notches are one to go for. If you fancy a twist then the Sew Over it and the Butterick are lovely.
We saw loads of this style of pinafore dress with a deep v at the front. Also quite a few round necked and button up options. These are such a great item for this trans-seasonal weather.
Three fab options for you here, the Margo and the Ivy if you loves the deep V and the Dulcie if you fancy a button up option.
Jennifer Lauren Handmade Dulcie Pinafore
I was delighted to see a shirt dress in this season as I love it as an autumnal piece.
There are three fantastic options to choose from and I think any of these would be a useful addition to your wardrobe.
Now we move onto tops and I have to say that this section is probably the least inspiring. The upside is thiese items are classics that won't go out of style. The boxy shirt is up first...
Two fantastic options here, the Jenna shirt if you want a classic shape with a curved hem and the Bella loves, that has a straight cut hem and large pockets on the chest.

Bella Loves Patterns Leo Shirt
We saw loads of these merino basics, in lovely muted colours. Also quite a few of these in a polo neck.
I've included two great options here, for a classic the Kashi Tee, not too fitted and a useful item. if you wanted something a little different the Skyline is lovely.
Loved seeing this trend back for Autumn and lots of these were knitwear items alongside oversized sweatshirts.
The Bert is the closest to the baove just make sure you size up for an oversized look. The Ruby top from Merchant and Mills is actually a woven pattern and better if you want something fitted.
Now we move onto the trouser department, these oversized trousers with big pleats sewn into the waistband were great.
The closest to this style was the Ester. For something more classic the Protea and the Atlas for something in the middle!
A lovely simple drawstring trouser is a simple sew to update your wardrobe. I did see lots of these in a stripe or fabric with a slight sheen.
Three great options here the Named is you are looking something with a really wide leg, and thhe other two would be great options, I really like the pocket on the Sepia trousers.
The balloon hemmed trouser was a suprise this season with lots of options available.
The Demi pant is the one with the most dramatic shape of the three, and if you love a frill check out the Harper.
Last up is the barrel leg jean... back again for autumn! I did notice that the younger shops on the high street like Mango and ASOS had made then a lot more slouchy.
Three classic options here that would tick all the boxes so it's just picking that shape that you like and away you go!
Now we are looking a skirts, I was suprised to see so many in this season and again quite simple shapes so easy additions to our wardrobes. First up the A-line skirt.
These are lovely options, the Selena and Mahlia are great staples. If you liked a shape with more structure for a leather for example the Anna is the way to go.
I can't believe the slip skirt is here again... will this style ever leave us?!! the only new addition this winter is that there were lots with lace embellishments.
The three classic slip skirts are above, of the three if you wanted something with a little more flair then the Avery is the one to choose.
Last but not least the mini is really popular this season with loads of lovely options - lots I saw were in suede and leather... love this Topshop patchwork option.
Two fantastic options here but if you need a skirt with a pocket them the Juliete is the one for you.
So that concludes this seasons sew the trends. I really hope it's made you have a think about your sewing plans for Autumn and we'll be back soon with more trend based sewing suggestions.
