THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES – 30TH JULY
Kate Underdown

Happy Sunday Fold Liners! It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

If you like a little company while you sew and want to keep up with the hot releases.  You might want to hit subscribe and never miss a thing.

We predict this may be the skirt pattern of the season… and the next for that matter! Bernadette combines clever feature shaping details, alongside a super fun belt bag. It is pleated in the front, darted in the back, and has two length options: mini and midi. The belt is closed with D-rings, and the bag features a zipper pocket, front pouch and flap. Designed for mid-weight woven fabrics, Bernadette looks great in anything from linen to denim to a rayon twill! I can see this belt bag becoming my new favourite substitute pocket to wear with everything!

If you’re after a swimsuit pattern with multiple options, check out Karlie, a 3-in-1 swimwear style in an inclusive size range, designed to end the days of squeezing into uncomfortable swimsuits! That sounds good to me! The one-piece swimsuit option has a built-in shelf bra, and scoop front with a deep scoop at the back inspired by Speedo’s iconic design. The two-piece options include a string bikini top and bottom or long sleeve rash guard with a scoop neck and built-in shelf bra. Madalynne’s instructions are always excellent so you are in safe hands with this one!

Looking for an easy-to-sew lightweight jacket pattern? Then look no further! The Lenaline Patterns Leon Jacket is a loose-fitting one-size wrap jacket design with patch pockets and a belt. It can be sewn in a range of woven fabrics, such as cotton, silk, linen, viscose, jacquard, and quilted fabrics. The one-size nature of this pattern would make it perfect if you want to sew a gift for someone as you don’t need to fuss about sizing or fitting!

Tempted to try sewing tucks? This pattern makes them star of the show in a very lovely way! The Pattern Scout Flora Tank and Dress feature a series of wide tucks across the bodice and a flowy skirt. You have two choices for your simple tie straps; narrow spaghetti-style straps or wider straps for a more bra-friendly option. Whether you choose to make Flora as a cropped tank, mini or midi dress, you’ll be sure to get lots of wear out of it this summer. The bonus is that Flora comes with three bust cup options; B, C and D cup sizes.

If you’re up for making your own bag, I can’t think of one more useful than the new Dhurata Davies Minnie Bag. This essential crossbody bag will help you carry your travel or daily essentials in style. Choose from a rectangular silhouette or a distinctive circular shape, adding a unique touch to your outfit. Your bag will have two handy front pockets, an inner pocket, and a removable strap for hands-free exploration. Designed with care and attention to detail, Minnie is underlined with bias-bound inner seams, adding durability and a professional finish to your creation.

If you think you have plenty of tote bags in your life, you might want to make room for one more as this is a rather useful bag sewing pattern. The Twin Tote has two practical main compartments and a smaller pocket nested in between. It is ideal for any outing that involves multitasking, allowing you to separate your essentials in the middle from your books or laptop on one side and any unexpected fabric shopping on the other. I love the idea of this as I am always rummaging around in mine, never finding what I am looking for!

Have a weekend trip planned? If you’re somebody who likes to pop off on mini trips, a weekend bag is a pretty essential piece of kit.  The Dhurata Davies Rome Weekender Bag has two options – one more detailed with a quilted back and front and is fully lined, and the second is unlined for a quick and easy project. You’ll find a convenient front pocket, a large internal back pocket for documents or a laptop, two internal side pockets to keep you organised, dual handles, and an adjustable and removable shoulder strap on both.
