It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know, so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

Good morning, gang! I'm here with your weekly Edit video - packed with intel on the latest releases in the sewing world.⁠ This week, we have an inspiring new issue of Selvedge magazine to talk about. I'll share the last of the summer dress patterns and zoom in on some of my favourite designs from the latest Fibre Mood drop.

Sew Over It Maria Dress

Maria features a gentle V-neckline, beautifully pleated bodice, and fitted waist to create a striking vintage-inspired silhouette. A faux wrap (that never gapes!), side zip opening, bra-friendly straps, and fully lined bodice make this dress as comfortable to wear as it is pretty.

Chalk and Notch Noe Tank and Dress

Noe is an A-line tank and dress. View A is a cropped tank, View B is a short mini dress with a hem facing, and View C is a long dress with a ruffle hem. Choose a high or low front neckline. The back has a slight racerback shape with the choice of an open back or a full back. The tank is fully lined, and there are options for a lined bodice or a fully lined dress.

Sew Bake Make Sundae Sundress

The Sundae Sundress is made for the sweetest days of summer. Designed with plenty of ease, this breezy tent dress floats away from the body, keeping you cool by touching as few points as possible. It's the kind of dress you'll throw on for beach days, farmers' markets, patio dinners, vacations, or simply surviving another hot day.

Madalynne Germaine Corset Coat

Featuring classic corset-style panelling and a lace-up back, this statement coat has structure while remaining effortlessly wearable. An oversized hood and front ties bring a modern, functional edge, while the floor-length silhouette delivers drama season after season.

Selvedge Magazine: Issue 132 Legacy

This issue explores legacy: the things we inherit that shape who we are and help us understand objects; the politics of authenticity; and how objects move from a utilitarian domain to the museum. Kim Winter examines the journey of willow baskets from the domestic sphere to the design fair, while Sonia Ashmore paints a nuanced picture of the weavers of Spitalfields through the lens of contemporary fashion.

Fibre Mood Alya Blazer

A blazer with a twist. Alya keeps it sleek and simple with a collarless design, while welt pockets with a flap are a nod to the classic blazer. A slit at the centre back allows extra freedom of movement. Wear Alya open over a top or dress on cooler days, or pair Alya with trousers in the same fabric for a fantastic outfit. 

Fibre Mood Veya Blouse

A blouse with character, Veya combines a relaxed fit with surprising details, including an asymmetrical overlap at the front and a tie at the back. A front yoke, oversized pocket, and sleeves with slits and cuffs complete the look. Ready for some compliments?

Fibre Mood Niva Top

All eyes on Niva! Because sometimes a top can be just that little bit extra. With Niva, the elegant draping and pleats at the front take centre stage. The stand-up collar adds a touch of class, and the invisible zip at the back creates a beautifully sleek silhouette. 

Fibre Mood Zafira Dress

Fancy a fun sewing challenge? Then why not add Zafira to your to-sew list. It's a project that requires quite a lot of fabric, but the result is worth it. This long dress features voluminous, gathered skirt panels, and a tie at the waist creates a blouson effect. There is a tie at the neckline too, and Zafira's sleeves are finished with a slit and cuff. Grand, flowing and made to turn heads.
