THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES - 3 MAY

It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know, so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

This week, Kate is showing you inside two sewing magazines, both of which feature a multitude of projects for spring and summer. There's also a shirt with cool-girl vibes, a zip-down menswear shirt and two simple tops that pair beautifully with linen trousers.

Fibre Mood Magazine Edition 38

If you are hunting for new-season sewing projects, this gives you plenty to play with! Edition 38 has 12 patterns and style variations for elegant, trendy and comfortable items for spring! Patterns are included for tops, dresses, trousers, shorts, a jacket and a bralette. The pattern pieces are included in the magazine on pull-out overlapping sheets, so you will need to trace off the pieces you want to use.

TAUKO Magazine Issue No. 19

The new edition of TAUKO magazine will get you ready to celebrate all things Nordic summer. Issue No. 19 celebrates the unique spirit of the Nordic summer. It's a fleeting moment that brings joy and a gentle sense of urgency: the feeling that every day should be lived to the fullest. The magazine includes an abundance of sewing patterns with delightful details, such as frills, pleats and beautifully draped silhouettes. You’ll also find essays and stories exploring Nordic style from new perspectives, revealing how diverse and evolving this tradition truly is.

The Avid Seastress Bib Shirt

The Bib Shirt is a softly structured blouse designed around a distinctive front bib detail. The silhouette is relaxed yet refined, making it suitable for everyday wear as well as more considered styling. Two neckline finishes are included. The keyhole opening offers a clean, minimal look, while the collar version creates a more defined and tailored look.

The Avid Seastress V-Neck Top

Designed with a relaxed silhouette, this style features an elegant V-neckline finished with a structured facing, creating a crisp, refined edge. Carefully finished hems elevate the overall look, making this a piece that feels both simple and polished. If you are looking for a simple summer dress to pair with linen trousers, this is worth a look.

Wardrobe by Me Men's Zip Shirt

This is a lovely menswear option for summer. This relaxed, slightly oversized shirt has a full front zipper, set-in collar, and front patch pocket. Choose short or long sleeves. The statement zip down the front is a refreshing alternative to the classic button-down shirt.

Atelier Brunette La Robe Zippée

This chic dress features a stand collar, grown-on short sleeves, and a long front zipper. Cinch it in at the waist with a cord or tie of your choice. It would be a lovely option for a summer holiday by the sea, or even a cruise!

Les Perlines Weekday Shirt

This is Les Perlines' take on the classic button-up shirt, with an effortless, cool-girl feel. Designed with an easy-to-sew camp collar proportioned to mimic the look of an open shirt neckline, Weekday is perfect for those wanting a classic shirt silhouette without the complicated sewing techniques. While the back yoke and classic box pleat ensure a good fit and movement, the oversized boyfriend fit and dropped shoulder create that 'casual but put together' look. I particularly love the long-sleeve tulip cuff.

Paradise Patterns Rose Bottoms

The Rose Bottoms are loose-fitting shorts and pants with an elastic high waist and some fun details. Views A and C feature a single back patch pocket and a hem band with a V-cutout that is extra eye-catching in striped fabric. Views B and D have slanted and curved front pockets and two back patch pockets, and the shorts have a flat-felled slit in the side seam.

The Rose Bottoms go perfectly with the Rose Raglan Button Up and feature a lot of the same details.

I hope you enjoyed that edit of new arrivals. I'll see you next week for another update!

Greetings: I have only participated in The Sewing Weekender since it went online and have LOVED it! I just realized it must be coming up but have missed any info about it. Checked the website and the only thing there is some basic info about last year’s Weekender. Is it cancelled? Will it be held at a different time of year? I will miss it greatly if it is gone for good.
