THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES - 25 MAY

It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

I hope you're enjoying a leisurely Bank Holiday weekend if you're in the UK. This edit is perfectly timed for your downtime. I'll be taking you through my picks from our latest designer, Emporia Patterns, as well as sharing the next blouse we will all be obsessing over and a pair of trousers that strike the perfect balance between smart and casual.

Emporia Patterns

We are so happy to share that we are now stocking Emporia Patterns' PDFS! From super simple beginner's to more complicated improver patterns, Emporia cater for the contemporary sewist who wants to make their own wardrobe.

From the perfect men's shirt pattern, to on-trend barrel leg trousers, to swishy summer dresses, to an iconic knit wrap dress, there's plenty to love about Emporia.

Emporia Patterns Margot Dress

Margot is a faux wrap dress with batwing bracelet-length sleeves, designed for knit fabrics. It has an elasticated waist and cuffs, ties at the waist, and a subtly gathered skirt with in-seam pockets.

Roan Trousers

Roan is a trendy barrel leg trouser with a loose and comfy fit for a cool and casual feel. The trousers have a medium rise waist, deep cutaway front pockets, a classic back yoke, and back patch pockets. The back waist has a length of elastic inserted into the waistband to make for an easy fit.

Penelope Dress

Penelope features a lined bodice with a V-neck and statement sleeves. The skirt has side seam pockets and can be midi length, or maxi length with a frill. Penelope is great for weddings and special occasions in the maxi version, or for casual everyday wear when made without the frill.

Madswick Beth Blouse

Quite a lot of us are going to fall in love with Beth. This timeless blouse features a Peter Pan collar, billowy bodice with generous ease, and a low armscye for comfort. Make it from pretty Liberty florals or keep it simple with a summer-friendly linen.

Notches Paula Trousers and Shorts

Got a spot in your me-made wardrobe for a smart, yet casual-enough-for-every-day pair of trousers? The Paula Trousers feature a high-fitted waist with a shaped waistband, pleats at the front, and tapered legs with darts at the hem. It's a great option for anyone who is not so keen on elastic waistbands, and you can make them up as a pair of breezy summer shorts!

Style Arc Fifi Woven Pant

Fifi is a simple pant to sew that will give you a sophisticated look. It has the elusive flat front and elasticated back and you can sew as full-length trousers or a summer-friendly 7/8 length.

Style Arc Hampton Woven Dress

This pattern gives you longevity as the Hampton includes sleeveless and sleeved options. Falling at the mid-calf, it features a collar and collar stand, princess seams and bust darts, a centre front button placket, curved high-low waist seam, gathered skirt, and in-seam pockets.

Coralie Bijasson Adriana Dress

Full of swish, this maxi length dress is perfectly suited to sunny days. The bodice features thin straps, princess seams, and a shirred back panel that creates comfort, which is essential on hots days.

Itch to Stitch Simien Top and Dress

Simien brings you the perfect balance of relaxed comfort and polished style. Princess seams start from the neckline and glide over your curves, creating a carefree silhouette that's effortlessly chic. Sew a hip length top or a knee length dress, with short or 3/4 length sleeves.  Whether you choose the elegant drapey cowl or the clean neckline with a facing, this simple pullover style is quick to sew and easy to wear.

Atelier Jupe Trixie Blouse

Do you have an event on the horizon and would rather opt for a nice top and trouser combo? Check out Trixie. The pattern features a crossover design that creates an elegant V-neckline. Keep it simple with a long sleeve or short cut-on sleeve, or opt for a fashionable gathered sleeve to make your blouse stand out. Complete the look with the Blake Trousers.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and we will see you in seven days time!
