THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES – 24 MARCH
Mel Forrest

It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

We have officially entered spring and are celebrating with a brand-new indie designer. If you’ve never come across Vivian Shao Chen’s delightful patterns, you are in for a treat. With patterns that combine understated simplicity with special design features, they are projects you will love to sew. Vivian is an interior architect and designer whose love for creativity shines through in her sewing patterns. The thoughtful details are what make these such intriguing designs. We hope you love them as much as we do!

This voluminous, billowy and oversized blouse looks great tucked into high-waisted jeans. The sleeve tucks add shape and texture to the feminine Nepheline Blouse. The pattern comes with B and D cup options, the latter includes bust darts.

Do you love easy-to-sew and wear elastic waist trousers but fancy something a little more structured? The Bisque Trousers feature deep front pleats, slant pockets, and darts at the back. Style them with the simply elegant Laurence Top.

Designed as an outerwear style that anyone, including confident beginners, can make – the Daphne Jacket is a great spring project. The inside looks just as good as the outside and vintage blankets can be utilised to make a unique piece.

This romantic little number has been on my radar for some time now. The loose-fitting style features a neat rounded collar and beautifully positioned buttons. If you love this you can’t miss the Orchard Dress Expansion. The sleeves are to die for!
We often get asked for a bias skirt pattern recommendation, and this is a great one. Made up of only two pieces and some narrow elastic at the waist, the Selena Skirt is a satisfyingly quick project.
Looking for a floaty yet fitted dress pattern? Margot is shaped at the waist with stylish French darts and has two gorgeous sleeve options. Whether you opt for the lantern sleeve or the 3/4 bell sleeves, they will be the feature you love the most.
If you like to make things with a little vintage flair, this pattern is worth a look. Inspired by styles from the early 1940s, Verona is a wearable A-line skirt with pockets and refined details that make it feel modern. You can pick from the easier-to-sew front panel version or delve into the button tin and make the button-front version.
Biker/moto-style jackets are back on-trend! This 90s/00’s piece has a slightly fitted shape, high collar and front zip. This pattern comes with a two-piece sleeve that can be used to emphasize the panel details of the jacket.
You can also choose to buy the Zip Vest with a basic sleeve, which is a straighter, everyday sleeve.
Finally, the pattern can be purchased as a Zip Vest which is a great layering piece.
