THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES - 23 FEBRUARY

It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

Ready to try something new? As admirers of her work, we are thrilled to announce that Cris Wood Sews is now part of the Fold Line family, and in today's Edit, I'll tell you all about her low-waste patterns. Plus, we've got a new quilted jacket pattern to obsess over that is on my "must make someday" list.

New Designer: Cris Wood Sews

Cris Wood Sews is for sewists who want to replace size charts and paper pattern pieces with size inclusiveness and sustainability.

The garments are made up using only squares and rectangles. In this way, each pattern piece can be sized to your specific and unique measurements – without paper pattern pieces. There is nothing to print, cut or tape. The piece shapes are drawn directly onto your fabric, and the layouts maximise fabric usage.

The patterns are excellent for beginners and confident beginners because they use only straight seams and don't require any closures like buttons or zips.

Creating custom garments while reducing waste sounds pretty great, doesn't it?

Cris Wood Sews Daydream Dress + Top

There's no questioning that this pattern is dreamy. Daydream features a billowy silhouette, square neckline and elbow-length puff sleeves with sweet ties.

Cris Wood Sews Envelope Dress

The hero pattern of the Cris Wood Sews range, if you want to try out a design, I recommend this one. The Envelope Dress is a versatile caftan-style dress with a dropped shoulder seam and side seams that gently curve to the front when worn. Grab the hack pack to have more options for this pattern.

Cris Wood Sews Throw Jacket

This throw-on jacket will elevate any outfit, and it's full of styling potential. Quick and satisfying to sew, it will become a piece you reach for and sew more than once!

Cris Wood Sews Glow Dress

A pretty yet comfortable dress that looks lovely in a multitude of prints and plains, this piece an easily be dressed up or down as desired. The details scream "Grecian goddess", so it would be a useful piece to pack for a getaway.

Cris Wood Sews Garden Dress

An elegant option that screams garden party, this dress can easily be dressed up or down for any function. The A-line shape skims the body, and the square neckline mixes things up a little from the standard crew neck shape.

Cris Wood Sews Juniper Dress

Have a fancy function on the horizon you want to sew something for? What out the sweet Juniper dress? The A-line shape skims the body and the large bow at the shoulder would make Sewing Bee judge, Esme very happy.

Matchy Matchy Homebody Quilted Jacket

Throw on this oversized jacket for cosy comfort and slouchy style points. The sleeves, which are roomy enough for a mid-weight sweater, have a dropped shoulder, hit below the wrist, and are finished with an elastic cuff to keep drafts at bay.  No quilting experience is needed – you will learn the skills to create an heirloom quality jacket.

JULIANA MARTEJEVS Carlotta Cardigan

Sew yourself a romantic spring cardigan with short puffed sleeves and covered buttons. Whether worn on its own or with a thin top underneath, this cardigan is perfect for any occasion.

Itch to Stitch Acari Trench Coat

Acari is a tribute to the timeless elegance of the classic trench coat. It is full of those distinctive features that make a trench coat special and each detail has been thoughtfully incorporated to create a coat that is both stylish and functional. Acari has regular and full bust options for a personalised fit, and is fully lined for a professional finish.

That's all folks for another Edit. I hope that's left you feeling inspired and given you more patterns to consider for your sewing list.
