THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES – 21 APRIL
Mel Forrest

It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

The latest Tauko magazine has dropped and it’s jam-packed with sewing patterns to make this spring/summer. Issue No. 11 celebrates the joy of coming together, embracing the art of creating and connecting with this month’s theme – ‘Gathering’.

From warm-weather tops to ruffled dresses, a relaxed jumpsuit to wide-leg trousers, this curated selection of sewing patterns offers something for sewists of all levels.

There are nine sewing patterns included in the magazine, ready for tracing off in UK sizes 6-32. Here are a few of our favourites…

ELSA is a voluminous dress or blouse with statement sleeves that are longer at the back and create a beautiful silhouette. The design has a fitted bodice with darts.

YVA is an on-trend maxi skirt with cool front slit. Turn it into a playful short skirt for a touch of fun, or create a seamless appearance by omitting the front slit.

Named after the Swedish word for “torrent”, the FORS top is inspired by movement. The cropped design makes it perfect to wear with high-waisted trousers, like the STRÖM trousers in this issue.

The AINA blouse is an elegant collar shirt with a gathered bodice, asymmetrical back yoke, and concealed button placket. It’s an easy-to-wear number you’re sure to reach for all summer long.

The VERANDA jumpsuit has a rounded neckline and is punctuated with buttons that lead to a drawstring at the waist. Wear it loose or cinched depending on your mood.

We’ve just unpacked a big box of new things from The Assembly Line that are great for any modern dressers who appreciate clean lines and lust over the Cos shop window.

  • The Balloon Sleeve Dress – a stunning piece with beautiful sleeves that combines a fitted bodice with puffy sleeves to balance proportions. You can also sew it with simple sleeves or make it sleeveless.
  • The Billow Blouse – an easy and speedy voluminous blouse that looks great tucked in or out of trousers and jeans.
  • The Barrel Leg Trousers – a cool barrel-leg, dropped crotch pair of trousers. The pattern includes three options for the back (regular, curvy, and straight), ensuring a comfortable fit for different body shapes.
  • The Unisex Wrap Collar Shirt – an interesting wrap-around collar shirt that is designed to be unisex and suits many body shapes

We’ve got two new ones from Sirena Patterns – the Viviana Tote Bag and the Kathryn Pants and Shorts. Viviana is an on-trend tote bag that’s unlined, with side panels and a top zippered closure with an end tab. Kathryn would be great for sewing beach pants or shorts, the drawstring waist gives them a laid-back feel.

And finally, we are pleased to say that we have added the full Sew Over It PDF back catalogue. With a plethora of patterns for vintage lovers, modern dressers and more, there is something well worth adding to your sewing list!
