CAPSULE WARDROBE: WINTER-ING
The capsule wardrobe series is back with an installment I’m calling ‘winter-ing.’ I’ve chosen eight fantastic sewing patterns that are perfect for this time of year and given you ideas of how to wear them together. I love lots of layering and luckily for me (as a cold person) this is very much en vogue at the moment. I’ve done a video where I talk through the patterns I’ve picked and then show you how you can style them together. I’ve got all the images featured in the video down below

Let’s meet the patterns:
These are the eight sewing patterns that we have chosen.
- Gabriela Bodywarmer sewing pattern from Fibre Mood: This fantastic pattern is not only a scrap buster (using just over 1m of fabric) but it’s also going to keep you toasty warm. DEsignerd to be quilted this is a perfect layering piece. Wear over a simple blouse or jumper.
- Paola Turtleneck Tee sewing pattern from Named: one of my favourite patterns and one that has been on many many makers cutting table. A great basic wardrobe staple that you’ll want to make in all the colours – trust me. The proportions of it are great, fitted but not too tight and I had to make zero alterations to it.
- Cozi Jacket sewing pattern from Pattern Scout: this is titled as a jacket but I see it as more of a jumper. I love the fabrication in the teddy fleece with the high neck and copped cut it’ll work so well with The Maker’s Atelier skirt or trousers.
- Quilt Scarf Bundle sewing pattern bundle from Matchy Matchy Sewing Club: we LOVE this pattern bundle featuring two scarf patterns (they can be bought separately too). Quilted and cosy this couple be a great first taster of quilting and you get to wear it afterwards!
- Sanda Coat or Jacket sewing pattern from Merchant & Mills: This super boxy coat is perfect for cramming all those layers underneath, choose from the longer line version or the cropped one. The collar on this coat is vintage perfection.
- Utility Pant and Skirt sewing pattern from The Maker’s Atelier: three for the price of one with this pattern. Choose from the skirt, elasticated cuffed trousers or the wide-leg version. We love the elasticated waist making it super comfortable.
- Tie Waist Blouse & Cone Sleeve sewing pattern bundle from Puff and Pencil: This simple blouse has a channel sewn through it at the waist that can either be ties tight or left loose creating two different silhouettes and we love the flaired sleeve.
- Makers Over Shirt sewing pattern from Matchy Matchy Sewing Club: we like the idea of making this now and wearing it over a jumper and come spring/summer you can wear it with a t-shirt underneath. It’s a really useful item for your wardrobe.
How to wear them together:
So we’ve picked the pattern now it’s time to think about how to wear them together. There were so many variations for these patterns but here are a few of my favourite. Enjoy!
