Still have room for a summer sewing project? This is a pretty simple sewn that is great for showcasing a print while keeping you cool and comfortable. The Patterns Room Ales Dress is a pullover slip dress with deep scooped necklines at the front and back that still allow for bra coverage. You can make Ales as a top, a long dress with a back slit, or a long dress with a gathered hem panel for extra volume, making it a pretty useful pattern to have in your stash.
A strappy cami is a summer staple, and this is a rather fun design. The Sew Love Patterns Mia Dress Top (and Dress) has a cute bow-like detail on the front that creates a sweetheart neckline. Mia can be made as a maxi or mini dress or as a top so it’s pretty versatile. It’s perfect for parties, holidays or picnicking in the park.
We’ve got another very lovely summer dress option for you that has a pretty swoon-worthy detail in the back. The Sew Over It Sofia Dress is just what we need to bring the sunshine out of hiding! My favourite feature is the beautiful bow at the back (fully bra-friendly when tied the right way) or you can choose to make it with buttons at the centre back. The skirt is elasticated at the back which cleverly means you can make the lower back more or less exposed by using a longer or shorter length of elastic. I love the way they’ve played with stripes on the sample. It is so effective!
If you’re still in the market for a swimsuit, this new release is a great option. The Sew Over It Zahra Swimsuit and Bikini gives you the best of both worlds and is very classic in its styling so is pretty unfussy. Both versions include the option to add foam cups for coverage and elastic under the bust for extra support and the instructions helpfully show how to add strap adjusters to achieve the best fit.
The Avid Seamstress Jumpset lets you have a bash at sewing both a dress and chic jumpsuit with one pattern. A unique yoke feature at the front with a wrap bodice and an elasticated waist means there are no fiddly fastenings, while in-seam pockets and a relaxed leg shape or floaty skirt give the garment a nonchalant vibe. Choose to cinch the waist in with a tie, or leave it off for a casual look.
