Sew Reporter – 12th December

Happy Sunday gang! We have some exciting things to share with you this week so we will get straight to it! We’ve added the Vikisews menswear range to the shop, a stunning new design from Pattern Fantastique, a new Merchant and Mills pyjama pattern and a snuggly hoodie from Cashmerette.

The Camden Pinafore and Skirt pattern by Nina Lee has been very popular lately so it got us thinking about how you can style it for autumn/winter. We love how Nina Lee put it with a turtle neck, so we thought the Nikko Top and Dress by True Bias would be a good option (and is a pattern you can pair with so many other things in your wardrobe.). Because it is a little chilly at this time of year we thought a Marlo Sweater by True Bias would be the perfect extra layer to keep you cosy. Plus, the Marlo can be worn with so many other things you will already have, it will get lots of wear!

Camden Pinafore and Skirt by Nina Lee – sizes UK 6 – 20

Nikko Top and Dress by True Bias – sizes UK 8 – 20 or UK 16 – 32

Marlo Sweater by True Bias – sizes UK 8 – 20 or UK 16 – 32

@suechinglascelles Partner Overalls

This make stopped us in our tracks, and I am sure you can see why! Sue-Ching made these lovely Partner Overalls from Ready to Sew in denim complete with contrast top-stitching (insert a round of applause). They are just incredible! You should definitely give @suechinglascelles a follow on Instagram. Her feed is FULL  of happy makes that won’t fail to make you smile 🙂

Vicswift's Cheryl Jacket from Vikisews

You had us at “Mobile duvet”… We loved this pattern from the moment it hit the shop and we are utterly obsessed with Vicswift’s Cheryl Jacket from Vikisews who says “I consider myself an overambitious beginner sewer”. Well, ambition clearly gets you far, we love it!

We’ve added the Vikisews men’s pattern range to the shop, a modern collection of garments that are great for men who sew or those who sew for loved ones!

Do you already have a specific design in mind? Or do you need some help finding the perfect pattern for your fabric? You can search all the patterns in our database using our newly updated sewing-specific search tool.

This new pattern release from Merchant & Mills is perfectly timed if you want to make yourself pyjamas for the festive season. Winnie is a traditional PJ pattern that can be made either long or short so you can make them no matter what hemisphere you are in!

Now, this is a ‘Find That Pattern’ you won’t want to miss… If you loved the film Little Women as much as we did then you are in for a treat. Kate has hunted down pattern ideas for the more wearable items in the film rather than the full-on historical dresses so you can add some Little Women flair to your handmade wardrobe if you fancy! There’s a video to go along with the blog post to accompany your sewing session this weekend.

Did you see the exciting news this week? The Marvelous Mrs Maisel is back for another season, and it’s coming really soon! Season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel premieres on February 18 on Amazon – eeeee! We are definitely plotting to watch all three seasons again over the festive period to get excited about the new season.

If you need more things to help you get excited, check out the @maiseltv account on Instagram as they are sharing sneak peeks. We also spotted this article on Glamour that’s sharing everything that’s been released about the series so far (including the release dates and schedule. Marvellous!

We ALL love the Marvellous Mrs Maisel costumes, don’t we? This book, Madly Marvelous by Donna Zakowska looks at the costumes from the series and is perfectly timed to add to our Christmas wish list.
