Sew Reporter – 28 February

Welcome to this weeks Sew Reporter. It’s the place where you can find all the latest from the movers and makers from the Sewing Community. We have found some really cool stuff this week, so we hope you enjoy having a browse and that you’ll be inspired by all the beautiful makes.

Well, hello there dreamy statement sleeves! Tabitha Sewer paired her Simplicity 8839 top pattern with Black History Month Orange Floral fabric and the result is wonderful.

We love the combination of this super sweet pink and red Nina Lee Bakerloo Blouse and the black pleather skirt. Marie at A Stitching Odyssey totally nailed this outfit!

Alice-May from The Stitch Edit was in need of a stylish trench coat and she certainly succeeded by making this beautiful lightweight Sew Over It Anna Coat.

Oh la la, this vibrant fruity lounge set by Meg at Megmade Sewing is delicious! Meg used the Lisa Loungewear Bundle by Style Sew Me to create it and now we want to make our own set.

This Papercut Patterns Stacker Jacket is everything! It’s made by Lucie at Love, Lucie and we are obsessed with the look of this.

Manju from SewManju is looking fab in her linen Closet Core Pietra Pants. It’s the perfect wardrobe staple.

Marcie aka Oonaballoona is here to brighten up your day with her fantastic technicolour long sweatshirt! Anyone else just want to live in this right now?

Have you ever seen a more beautiful silk satin Sicily Slip Dress – designed by Sewing Patterns by Masin? Fiona at Diary of a Chainstitcher is looking stunning!

Emily from Self Assembly Required liked the cute boho casual kind of feel of the Seamwork Bertie dress, and we couldn’t agree more. This dress is so pretty!

These Megan Nielsen Dawn Jeans are amazing! They look SO GOOD on Chloe @chloemontrose. She also did a super clever hack so they are now a lot easier to adjust in case of weight gain or loss. We highly recommend reading Chloe’s detailed pattern review.

This lovely yellow Fibre Mood Norma Blouse brings a smile to Nikki’s face, and ours too! Read Nikki’s @thestitchsistersuk pattern review on the site.

Some really amazing patterns have made it to our website in the past few weeks and we’ve already added a few to our own wish lists. The most recent one is the Sitka Sweatshirt from Hey June Handmade. Doesn’t it look so cosy and cool?!

Do you already have a specific design in mind? Or do you need some help finding the perfect pattern for your fabric? You can search all the patterns in our database using our sewing-specific search tool.

It’s the end of the month so that can only mean one thing; it’s time for The Sew Down! We are bringing you a run down of some of the interesting stuff we have found, bought, read and watched in the world of sewing.

This months theme on The Sewcialists blog is Zero Waste Sewing and we have spotted another fantastic post on the subject: Giving New Life To Scraps. It’s written by Monelle @bashfulleo and she made this out-of-this-world-jawdroppingly-gorgeous It’s All In The Stitch Gibson jacket. Read all about the process of making it + more beautiful photos on The Sewcialists blog.

There’s a new podcast in town! Punks Frockers is an inclusive podcast for sewists looking to connect with other sewists, and fun, challenging projects. Listen to their first episode now: Episode 1:Meet Jenny and Beverly, and keep an eye on their Instagram for news and updates.

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month and Jess from @sowhatifisew is hosting the #SewYellowForEndo Challenge on Saturday the 20th of March. Join in and make or partially make a yellow or partially yellow garment or outfit and share it on Instagram. Find all the information you need in this post.

Just look at this amazing By Hand London Rumana coat! We pretty much love everything Janene @ooobop makes, but this coat – and the pattern matching – is just epic! Janene really has her own individual style and we love how she makes and designs clothes that are really unique. Head over to her account for more fabulous sewspiration.

We are over the moon to have added Made My Wardrobe patterns to The Fold Line shop. Lydia designs the most dream worthy patterns! We now have nine patterns to choose from (sizes: 6-24), from dresses to a fantastic bra and pant, to a blouse with epic sleeves. Also, if you want to learn more about Lydia and her journey of making her clothes and setting up a sustainable sewing business then check out this Podcast with Hannah and Rosie from The New Craft House.

Come and join our sewing Facebook group where we are chatting about sewing plans, new patterns and helping each other out with projects.
