The Online Sewing Weekender 2020

The Online Sewing Weekender 2020 has sold over 1900 tickets sold worldwide! Thank you so much for your support and all the money we are raising as a community for charity.

In these difficult times we find ourselves in, many events have been postponed or cancelled for 2020 but do not fear, this year we will be bringing you The Online Sewing Weekender! We have enjoyed hosting the last four Sewing Weekender’s so much and we didn’t want not to be able to connect with all you again in 2020. The Sewing Weekender is an informal community sewing event, read our round up of the event last year with featured speakers and vlogs from attendeesThis year it will be different, as we won’t be having a meet up in person but the positive side of this is that so many more of you will be able to join us for a weekend of sewing. The Online Sewing Weekender will take place on 13 – 14th June 2020 and is organised by Charlotte (English Girl at Home) and us at The Fold Line.

This year all activities will happening online and 100% of the profits from tickets sold will be donated equally between the following charities. As ticket sales have exceeded our expectations, thanks to your support, we are able to increase the number of charities we are supporting and these include NHS Charities Together, Black Lives Matter, mental health charity Mind and the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the bloggers, vloggers, businesses and designers will have generously given their time to helping us create the first Online Sewing Weekender. We are also hoping to raise lots of money for charities that are doing vital work to support us all.

All the attendees of The Sewing Weekender 2019

In previous years our venue was Murray Edwards College in Cambridge. It was transformed into a sewing room for the weekend; where attendees brought along a sewing project, or two, and got their sew on while chatting to friends and drinking plenty of tea. This year we are taking as many elements of The Sewing Weekender online, so even more of you can experience a fun weekend and meet other makers. Take a look at the speakers we had at the event last year and all the fun everyone got up to!

Over the weekend, we’ll have a series of informal vlogs from bloggers and makers plus longer talks, live zoom sewing help sessions, online workshops and other online activities with special guests from the sewing community. Each attendee will also receive a digital goodie bag. We’re really excited about The Online Sewing Weekender and hope you are too! Don’t forget to keep up with all the fun by following the hashtag #sewingweekender on Instagram.

Here is Kate to tell you more about this years Online Sewing Weekender.
