TOP 10 SEWING PATTERN RELEASES OF 2024

As 2024 is about to come to a close, we have been nosing at which new indie pattern releases have been the most popular with you all this year. It's been a strong year for pattern releases, and this list is full of ideas for your next sewing adventure.

Fabric Godmother Fleur Dress and Blouse

Fleur was the blouse we all wanted to sew. With its on-trend bow front detail with Ganni vibes, it delighted the sewing world. The playful bow ties and gathered peplum or skirt add an element of fun, while a secret placket stops you from showing more than you might want to between the bows! It means you don’t have to compromise on the style or worry about your bra peeking through.

Vivian Shao Chen Nepheline Blouse

Nepheline's popularity never seemed to waver. This voluminous, billowy and oversized blouse looks great tucked into high-waisted jeans. The sleeve tucks add shape and texture to the feminine Nepheline blouse. The pattern comes with B and D cup options, the latter includes bust darts. If you haven't made one, it's time to jump on the bandwagon!

Closet Core Patterns Jenna Shirt and Shirtdress

The Jenna pattern is probably the most perfect iteration of a shirt I have seen – it’s already iconic.⁠ Features include; oversized menswear-inspired styling⁠, drop shoulder⁠, a deep back yoke⁠, a traditional shirt collar and collar stand⁠ and a long sleeve with a tower placket and cuff⁠. And you have a great dress option. What’s not to love?

Merchant & Mills Paynter Jacket

We all love a collab, and we all went crazy for this one! Paynter Jacket Co. release limited edition jackets four times a year that are made to order, so there's no waste from overproduction. These classic pieces are designed to stand the test of time and get better with age. They teamed up with Merchant & Mills to give home sewists the opportunity to make our own version.

What's more, the paper copy comes with two limited edition labels so we had to keep stocking this one up!

French Navy Langston Trousers

We saw utility styles taking notes from carpenter details this year, and Langston proved that jeans can be comfy, very comfy indeed. The Langston Trousers feature vintage-inspired carpenter details that give them a utilitarian aesthetic, while the waistband is elasticated for maximum comfort. Leave the pockets and details off for a minimalist look.

Atelier Jupe Julia Sweater

Trends don't tend to be practical, but the pullover trend very much is. Julia has been one of our bestsellers this year for many reasons. The slightly dropped shoulders make it very comfy to wear and seamlines allow for you to play with colour blocking. If you pick a fleece or teddy fabric it will be super cosy, but will take the difficulty level up a pinch due to working with bulky fabrics.

Matchy Matchy Archer Work Pants

Do you love darts? Well, this clever pattern has them in unexpected places. The easy-fitting barrel-shaped Archer Work Pants feature knee darts on both the front and back legs as well as a back ankle dart, giving these pants their distinctive shape. Other special details include oversized askew front pockets and a contrasting inseam panel. We predict the barrel-leg trend is here to stay.

This pattern and anyone who makes it deserve a round of applause. It is simply sensational.The classic styling gives you everything you need from a staple shirt and the choice of three options means you won’t stop at making one. Style it open over a top or dress to get even more wear out of this fab piece. It comes as no surprise that it has made the top 10!

Notches Judy Dress, Top and Skirt

We added a new brand to the shop who allows you to play designer and you loved that concept as much as we do. You can make 26 different garments with the Judy pattern giving you so many options to play with. The wrapping waist ties create an elegant silhouette and there are no closures to sew so it's not tricky to sew.
