 TOP 10 PYJAMA SEWING PATTERNS

I don't know about you, but putting on a fresh pair of pyjamas is my idea of heaven. I like to update my collection at this time of year as I am planning to spend a lot of time in them over the festive period. If you too have a penchant for PJs, you might fancy sewing a pair ready for the "PJs all day" time of year!

To save you time searching for the perfect pyjama sewing pattern, I've edited them down to 10 great designs. There are styles for advanced sewers and beginner dressmakers alike. If you want to keep your treasure make in something special, I'd recommened checking out this FREE Merchant & Mills drawstring bag pattern.

Sew Over It Imogen Pyjamas

I am partial to stretchy, jersey pyjamas. They offer maximum comfort with a whole heap of warmth. Imogen is easy to sew and fit and gives you a couple of versions to play with. If you want a super-easy sew, make version 2 which omits the snaps and the yoke gives you the opportunity to play with colour blocking.

Paper Theory Patterns Agnes Pyjama Set

This is the most popular PJ option we have in the shop, so you can't go wrong with Agnes. The bottoms feature no side seam so are very simple and fast to sew. The shirt is very oversized with batwing sleeves and is a great pattern for day wear too. The patch pockets top everything off beautifully. Sew them up in a linen fabric for ultimate breathability.

Matchy Matchy Ruffle Brunch Set

Pyjamas can be playful and I can't think of a design more fun than this. Designed with comfort in mind, the top features a wide scooped neckline, princess seams, ruffles at the hems and sweet ties down the front. You can make the bottoms long or short and if you style the set as separates, they are a cute addition to your daywear.

Merchant & Mills Winnie Pyjamas

If you appreciate a traditional set of pyjamas, you can't get better than thins. Winnie has all the hallmarks timeless PJs and features a darling collar. You can take your handmade sleepwear up a notch with optional piping... maybe even an embroidered monogram?

Sew Liberated Nocturne Pajamas

Float into bed and out of it in this dreamy set. Go for floatier fabrics for an ethereal feel or for a flannel fabric for a full-on cosy set. The details like the V-notch at the neckline which falls into gentle gathering give it a feminine feel. You can lengthen the top into a sweet nightgown too, so there is plenty to make with this pattern!

Named Olo Tee and Pants Set

More lounge than full on slumber, Olo is for the modern maker who wants something to chill around the house in. If you are going to make a pyjamas set, I would pick a lighter weight knit that would feel comfortable against the skin. The optional rolled hem detail is a fun technique that could find its way onto many more makes!

Closet Core Patterns Fran Pajamas

If your sleepwear is as cool as your daily get-up, you will love Fran. Featuring tailored details with a slouchy fit, they look just as good in bed as they do glammed up and on the town. If your idea of a night out on the town involves slippers, the best spot on the couch and something great to watch, you can do it in style. There's a smattering of details that will take your sewing up a level.

Pattern Scout Comfi Tee and Pants Lounge Set

Comfi by name and nature, this set is the dream combo. The set is fitted and loose in all the right places and will give you a chance to shop for a fun print. The pants have anchored pockets, so carrying your phone around the house won't be a problem - nor will answering the door in this set, it's just too good to hide!

In The Folds Gibson Loungewear Set

If you're not so keen on pyjama sets or are sewing for a warmer climate, I have the pattern for you. Made up of four pieces, you can choose to make a set or just make the pieces that fit best into your wardrobe and lifestyle. The nightdress is a gorgeous choice if you don't like wearing pyjama sets, those sleeves are just gorgeous!

Wardrobe by Me Unisex PJ Pants

Finally, I have a super simple pattern for anyone who has a treasured collection of sleep-worthy t-shirts. This unisex PJ pants pattern will complete the mis-matched set and is super easy to sew. The one-pattern-piece design with no side seam makes them faster to sew and extra comfy for sleeping. As they are an easy-fitting garment, they would make a great gift.

I hope that's inspired you to sew a pyjamas this season. You can browse more styles here and don't forget to check out our dressing gown sewing patterns if you want to complete the set.
