Kate Underdown

Happy Sunday Fold Liners! It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

If you like a little company while you sew and want to keep up with the hot releases.  You might want to hit subscribe and never miss a thing.

If you’re after a simple and elegant summer dress, this pattern definitely delivers. The Maker’s Atelier Day Dress has a relaxed fit dress with options for gather or tuck details to add shape and definition. This pull-on dress has grown-on sleeves and can be made with or without in-seam pockets. It would look just as good in printed or plain fabrics.

This might be the sweetest pattern I have ever seen. Below the Kōwhai Honu Quilted Vest is a trendy, folksy and fun layering piece for boys and girls. It has been designed to fasten at the top of the front opening with a hook and eye closure with the front edges meeting in the centre. It comes with a few lovely options from length to front edge shape. It would make a lovely gift for someone special and could be a useful scrap buster!

Fancy a FREEBIE pattern that is also an easy and speedy sewing project? this fine Friday? The Juliana Martejevs Xenia Top is great for sunny days and layering up and also comes with a step-by-step video tutorial (in German with English subtitles) – great news for anyone who likes to learn by watching!

We’ve been pretty obsessed with the Fibre Mood Quilla Top since the magazine launched, but we are pleased to say you can now purchase this (and the following patterns) as individual PDFs! Quilla is a classy, feminine top that is an absolute ‘must sew’. This sleeveless top has an A-line shape, a high neck at the front and back, and intriguing side panels with elastic for a fun gathered effect. The neck and armholes are finished with an all-in-one facing.
The Fibre Mood Leanne Dress is just like one I was eyeing up in Marks & Spencer so I will have to sew my own now! Leanne has narrow shoulder straps – which is very on the current 90s trend. is just the thing for hot days and humid evenings. You can sew it as an above-the-knee dress, cool midi length, or even as a sweet summer top.

We shared a round-up of patterns with cut-outs not so long ago and we wish this one was on that list! The Fibre Mood Ruba Dress features an on-trend waist cut-out, which is subtle at the front, showing only a trace of midriff and shows a smidge at the back. The dress also has a deep V-neckline and slightly gathered sleeves. This pattern makes a sunny short dress, but you can also easily turn it into a midi or maxi dress.
