THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES - 14 SEPTEMBER

It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

Are you searching for options for your autumn sewing endeavours? Our weekly new sewing pattern run-down has some great options that might make the cut. We've got two nice knit dresses and tops that have all-season appeal and the cuteness little bag pattern that's perfect for kickstarting your September sewing.

Friday Pattern Company Collins Dress and Top

This quick and easy sew comes with a few options to play with, and has handy hidden features. Sew it up as a top, short dress, or tea length dress with a choice of two cup size options (B/C and C/D) to achieve a great fit.

The back has low or high (bra friendly) options and most importantly, Collins has an integrated shelf bra. It is form fitting without being too tight and the hemline features a slight A-line sweep, balancing the proportions out beautifully!

Cris Wood Sews Kite Dress

Low-waste, paperless and completely customisable to your measurements, Cris Woods' patterns are awesome. The Kite Dress is an easy-to-sew and easy-to-wear design you will reach for when you want to be comfortable, but look put together.

The A-line shape has plenty of ease for a comfortable fit, and can be cinched in optional wide sash belt. The simplicity of the design makes this pattern an ideal candidate for any fabric you want to take centre stage.

The Assembly Line Smocked Dress

If you fancy trying your hand at shirring without committing to sewing a large panel with lots of work involved, this pattern offers a touch here and there. With elastic shirring at the shoulders and waist, it offers a comfortable and flexible fit that moves with you. Practical side seam pockets add functionality without compromising style.

The Assembly Line Flutter Sleeve Dress

In need of an elegant dress for special or smart occasions? This 2-in-one pattern gives you two distinct looks in one package. Choose between a delicate flutter sleeve or a dramatic puff sleeve that is balanced out with a slightly A-line skirt. It's designed for light to medium weight fabrics, so you can really change the overall look and feel with your fabric choice.

The Assembly Line Fitted Waist T-shirt

If your wardrobe is overflowing with basic t-shirts and you fancy mixing things up with an elevated take on a tee, this is a must. The Fitted Waist T-shirt features a boat neckline and a shaped waist with topstitched pleats at the front and back. Despite being made from jersey fabric, it would be a great date-night top!

The Assembly Line A-line Tunic

Tunic tops are the epitome of fuss-free dressing, and this design is for the minimalists out there. Featuring a V-shaped neckline with a square-cut bottom that falls into a dipped back hem to create a relaxed and flowing shape. As a design detail, the facings can be top-applied on the outside of the tunic for a striking visible feature. It's a smart staple you can get lots of wear out of!

Sew Liberated Missive Bag

Kickstart your September sewing with a project on the small side. Small but mighty, the Missive Bag is the perfect size for carrying your phone and keys on small adventures, compact enough to function as a bonus pocket without the bulk of a purse. Wear it over the shoulder, as a crossbody bag or as a hands free belt bag.

The curved seams on the front add volume to the bag and feature hand sewn edge stitching. The flap also features hand sewn edge stitching, making it a truly unique piece. I could see this being a useful pattern come Christmas if you like sewing gifts for loved ones!

Chalk and Notch Tess Dress and Top

This fitted shape features an elegant, wide ballet style neckline and is the perfect base layer for autumn. You have plenty to play with as there are two front and back necklines and three sleeve options, as well as the chance to make a top or dress.

You get bang for your buck with Tess, as you can sew it with no sleeves, short or long sleeves. The patterns also has bust cup options included for a customised fit. It will become a year-round favourite!

Has that given you some contenders for your autumn sewing endeavours? Enjoy your week and we will be back with another Edit soon!
