THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES – 12 NOVEMBER
Mel Forrest

Happy Sunday Fold Liners! It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

If you like a little company while you sew and want to keep up with the hot releases.  You might want to hit subscribe and never miss a thing.

I am a sucker for puff sleeves and this beauty has caught my attention. The Matchy Matchy Perfect Puf Sleeve Top is easy to sew with dropped shoulders that fall into a perfectly dramatic puff sleeve. Make a pull-over style or button-front blouse.

If you’re heading into the summer season, this is a great pattern for those hot days when you want to feel breezy. The Matchy Matchy Open Back Smock Top is a quick and satisfying sew, and a great pattern for beginners. I love the idea of wearing it back-to-front as a layering piece. It would look great over long-sleeved tops and dresses.

One of my favourite things to make and wear is a versatile cardigan. The Tammy Handmade Cara Cardigan has a relaxed fit and can be sewn above the hip or as a cool longline cardi. If you are less confident with buttonholes, you can leave them off and have an open-front cardigan – perfect for throwing over a casual outfit.

We’ve been eagerly awaiting stocking Peppermint magazine and our first drop is here! The Australian independent publication focuses on style, sustainability, sewing and substance. It’s a gorgeous and interesting thing to have on your coffee table.

Each issue also includes a gorgeous full-size printed sewing pattern that goes up to a UK size 32.

Issue 54 has plenty of interesting articles to read such as five hand stitches you gotta know for making and mending. Plus, there’s a free cardigan knitting pattern by Cardigang and a tutorial from DIY Daisy for a ruffle skirt and accessories included. The free pattern included in this issue is a gorgeous wrap-top style – the Albion Blouse.

Issue 55 is packed with interesting articles as well as mini-projects to make; DIY your own sewing kit and a DIY macrame plant hanger as well as a sewing pattern. The free pattern included in this issue is a cool gender-neutral utility jacket – the West End Jacket.

We have just added copies of lingerie pattern designer, Sophie Hines to the shop! The patterns have a great size range and are styles you can make again and again.

The Sophie Hines Median Knickers are high waist, full coverage undies where the crotch is cut wide to always stay in place. The garment can be entirely constructed with a sewing machine (serger/overlocker optional).

The Axis Tank is Meridian’s perfect partner – ideal for sewing your own handmade lingerie set. This unlined cropped tank top/bralette is designed to be worn as a comfort or layering garment. Four different views feature the tank with scooped or high necklines, with or without different design panels. All openings are finished with a super easy binding method.

Sew your own period pants with this clever pattern. Create your perfect gusset by combining front and back lengths according to your desired coverage, then choose your favourite rise and waistband for a custom period pattern. Sophie’s instructions will make the process feel far from daunting.
