THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES - 1 NOVEMBER

It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know, so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

Good morning, team. Can you believe it's November already?! I'm ready to update you on all the sewing stuff hitting the shop this week. There's a stunning new issue of TAUKO magazine to talk through, a chic new pattern drop from Maison Fauve and three achingly cool designs from Style Arc. And, believe me, that is just a sample of all the things I have to tell you this week!

Maison Fauve Ludmilla Dress

Make a long dress with a belt, or a top to go with your favourite jeans. Ludmilla has options for a scoop neckline at the front or back, or a faux wrap neckline. The length of the sleeves is deliberately exaggerated to be worn with scrunched-up nonchalance at the wrist. A piece that is quick to sew and oh so feminine!

Maison Fauve Ex Libris Overshirt

Ex Libris is a super comfortable, beautifully cut overshirt. Rounded 70s-inspired pockets are echoed in the curved hemline for a silhouette that feels both relaxed and considered. Ex Libris can be made in so many different fabrics depending on the look you want to achieve – from a soft, relaxed overshirt to a more structured transitional jacket.

Maison Fauve Cursive Wrap Top

Ultra feminine and so comfortable to wear, the Cursive Wrap Top joins Maison Fauve's collection of knitwear patterns. Its neckline rises softly around your neck, its cut follows your curves, and its long tie belt defines your waist. It's the perfect layer over your mid-season dresses and tops.

Sewing Therapy Asymmetric Ruffle Skirt

Combining the clean lines of a classic A-line cut with the playfulness of an angled hem and ruffles, this skirt reinterprets the tiered skirt into something fresh and modern. What sets this pattern apart is its clever play on panel orientation, offering two captivating silhouettes from a simple foundation.

Sew Liberated Dungiven Dress

Combining a midcentury silhouette with contemporary details, Dungiven is a midi-length dress with topstitched box pleats on the front and back for waist shaping. The back has topstitched princess seams, and the front closes with a two-way separating zipper. Dungiven can be worn as a dress or unzipped as a duster or light coat.

Style Arc Nala Woven Pant

These wide-leg, full-length pleated pants are a fashion-forward take on tailored trousers. They sit on the natural waist and feature a shaped waistband, traditional zip fly, and in-seam pockets, while distinctive pleats at the front create dramatic volume. A unique wardrobe staple you'll return to season after season.

Style Arc Octavia Woven Wrap Skirt

Octavia is a modern wrap skirt in two lengths with true and faux wrap options. Sitting on the natural waist, the midi version features a striking horizontal seam, or the lower panel can be omitted to create a chic mini skirt. The front wrap joins with ties or D-rings.

Style Arc Lumi Knit Dress

Lumi is an elegant knit top or dress with a unique twisted detail at the left side. The fitted dress has a subtle A-line shape and optional godet for extra movement and volume. The top variation features a striking pointed hem below the twist. Choose from three neckline options: round, boat, or V-neck. There are also sleeveless and long-sleeve options, with cut lines for shorter-length sleeves. Designed for knit fabrics, Lumi combines comfort with elevated design details, making it equally ideal for day or evening wear.

Petits D'om Norn Sweatpants

These wide-leg sweatpants have a vertical pintuck down the centre front of each leg. The elastic waistband can be finished with a drawstring; there are optional pockets, and you can add trim along the sides for a sporty look.

Petits D'om Louve T-shirt

Louve has a round neckline and grown-on sleeves. Choose short sleeves, long sleeves, or mid-length oversized sleeves. The tee is fitted at the waist, and you can add pleats to one side for a fashionable asymmetrical draped look.

Petits D'om Kald Zipped Sweatshirt

Kald is a zipped sweatshirt with a slightly cropped length and two collar sizes. It has dropped shoulders and the sleeves are rectangular, so very easy to sew. The cuffs and hem are finished with ribbing. You can add pockets to the front, and there is an optional seamline for colourblocking.

TAUKO Magazine Issue No. 21

TAUKO Magazine Issue No. 21 brings together independent designers exploring modular, repairable, and reconfigurable garments: one bodice that becomes several different pieces, a dress with detachable sleeves, sashiko that celebrates visible mending, and the Button Masala technique, which swaps seams for buttons and elastic bands.

With projects ranging from a playful pincushion and shorts to a tailored trench coat-inspired dress, there’s something for every skill level and every pace.

Selvedge Magazine Issue 133: Kin

This issue looks beyond formal education to how children experience textiles during their formative years, through clothing, toys, games, and play, and considers how manual dexterity and craft skills vary across cultures and social contexts. This magazine delivers the ultimate aesthetically beautiful experience.

I hope you enjoyed that edit of new arrivals. I'll see you next week for another update.
