Find That Pattern: One Day

The cult book One Day has been made into a 14-part series on Netflix. I was so excited for this to come out as I’m a huge fan of the book and let me tell you it didn’t disappoint. It was wonderfully nostalgic, the casting was perfect, and the music will catapult you to a pivotal point in your youth. I thought it would be fun to hunt out some of the patterns from the show and I’ve shared my findings below. For a full breakdown head to the video… for a quick skim see the images below..

First tup we’ve got the scene when Emma and Dexter have spent their first night together. I love this top and thought it would be an easy hunt… how wrong I was. The Chalk and Notch Victory tank is a great starting point and helpfully they’ve created a tutorial to add a button placket.

Next up we’ve got this great outfit with an oversized cropped bomber alongside a pair of high-waisted chinos. The bomber from The Maker’s Atelier would be a good match with it’s grown on sleeve and boxy shape. For the trousers the Chandler Trousres from Untitled Thoughts with a slight tapering at the ankle.

I love this dress and remember owning one very similar, I was looking for a pattern that had the sloped seam under the bust. As soon as I started thinking about that seam line the Named Taika sprung to mind as is a good match.

Anyone else have a dress like this? The fabrication is on point! I spent a long time looking for a pattern with that relaxed camp-style collar. Unfortunately I couldn’t find one but thought that the Tilly and the Buttons Lyra dress was pretty close.

Ahh the wedding era, there were so many fantastic outfits in this part of the show and I loved Emma’s bridesmaid dress. I found two great options for this either the Sew to Grow Sycamore dress or if those tiny straps got you the Workshop Ellen dress if you lenghtened it.

Another great look from the wedding scene was this strappy cowl neck slip dress the Maisin Sicily slip dress is such a popular pattern and I thought would be a good option.

I loved this sleeveless blouse that Emma wore in Paris, such a simple shape and quite hard to find. I thought the Butterick 6924 was a really good match especially as the collar styles are exactly the same.

Last but not least this fantastic straight-cut skirt… a style I wore a lot and loved. The Maker’s Atelier Maxi skirt immediately sprang to mind as it is high wasted and a really useful piece for your wardrobe.

So that is it for me this time  – i really hope you enjoyed and if there is anything else you’d like to do then let me know.
