Buy the Limestone Leggings and Top sewing pattern from Sew Liberated. This fun and functional knit set is perfect for layering, lounging and moving.

With multiple views and leg lengths, the Limestone Leggings are an activewear workhorse for many seasons and activities. The curved pockets provide a playful and practical element, while the curved waistband and carefully placed seams support comfortable movement and offer colour blocking potential. The pattern also features a crotch gusset for increased comfort due to the reduction of bulky seams.

The Limestone Top is a super quick sew. Choose between high-back and scooped-back views; both look great under a Studio Tunic, Penny Pinafore or Otis Overalls in warm weather. Adding the optional wide elastic band transforms it into an easy sports bra.

Suggested fabrics: Medium- to heavy-weight knit fabrics with 50% stretch and a strong recovery (approx. 9-12 oz./250-350 gsm). For a sporty fit, the designer used heavy organic jersey. Other athletic knits like recycled polyester-spandex blends or nylon-spandex blends would work too. For softer loungewear, choose a medium weight knit fabric with rayon or bamboo content in addition to spandex/elastane.

Leggings with two pockets!

I made the leggings from this set. I used athletic fourway stretch polyester/lycra. I don't have an overlocker, I used the faux overlock stitch on my usual machine, polyester thread, jersey needles and a walking foot.

I made a toile according to the pattern and instructions using the shorter inseam length and they were a good fit around the waist and hip - which are the points that the pattern uses for it's measurements. I tailored the fit - such as the shape of the bum and crotch, the fit on the knees and calf, and the length. Now I have a pair of leggings that fit me perfectly, and they have a phone pocket on each side. The pattern provided an excellent starting point for me to make adjustments.

The instructions were easy to follow and the pattern is clearly drawn with notches, lines and instructions written consistently (I bought a PDF and had it printed locally).

These are a good athletic legging pattern, they have the usual amount of panels for athletic leggings which provides the opportunity to colour block or have mesh panels. Obviously, styles for leggings change and you might want to adjust this pattern according to trends - such as being short or long, high or low waist, with or without a cuff (this pattern has a cuff option).
