Buy the Lacewing Top sewing pattern from Marilla Walker. The Lacewing Top is a cape-like garment which can be made as a light open jacket, a button up shirt or a jersey top. It has elbow length butterfly sleeves and a curved hem ending just below the waist. The style is versatile and can be made in a variety of fabric weights depending on the desired outcome. The construction is simple with only one seam at the shoulder, and there are lots of suggested seam finishes and sewing techniques included making this perfect for confident beginners. Note the sides are very open so a base layer may be required for more coverage.

View A is a cover up or lightweight jacket that remains open at the front. The front edge is finished with a fabric band.

View B is a button up shirt with a faced round neckline and button placket.

View C is a T-shirt (1) or funnel neck sweater (2).

A bonus pattern extension is also included for a longer length, reversible, cape-like coat that ends just above the knee. It remains open at the front and has deep side slits.
