Tessuti Fabrics Coni Tunic

I deliberated many months over whether to try this pattern. I finally took the plunge and here is my first one (I will make more). I see another reviewer struggled with the pockets. I can’t comment on this as I never put pockets in dresses. If I put anything in them, I find they ruin the line of the dress and if I don’t, I don’t need them. Anyway, this pattern is perfect for hot days and holidays.

The coni tunic by tessuti is a hand drafted pattern. See photo. When cut out pieces lined up well for sewing. It took me three attempts to work out the pockets. Although the instructions include large photos of each step, the stitching lines are in white thread and invisible. So for the unusual pocket insertion I found this frustrating when visible stitching in the photo would have been helpful. The pockets do look good when finished. The tunic is very loose fitting even though I'd checked finished garment measurements. I had to create an inverted pleat in the front to remove excess fabric. It's still too large so I'd make a smaller size next time. I used a cotton that was a bit heavy for this style. The light weight fabric on the pattern looks better but I didn't want it to be transparent. Not sure how much wear I'll get out of this version, too structured for beach/pool and too unstructured for a dress. At home, on a warm evening it will be cool and comfy.
